Reds Starlets Make Appearance in England Draw

|

2-1 at half time, the French came out at half time determined to equalise, and they nearly did when Lenny Nangis’s shot was parried away by keeper Pickford. The ball only found its way into the path of goalscorer Haller though, and his shot was cleared off the line by Reds Academy player Brad Smith, making his biggest contribution to the game.

The pressure did however eventually tell on England however, and Haller was the scorer as he headed home from close range after getting in front of keeper Pickford. Adam Jackson tried to clear the ball off the line but to no avail. Both sides continued to create chances and John Peacock opted to put on in form Reds striker Adam Morgan to see if he could nick a goal.

Morgan didn’t get his chance however, and France nearly stole all three points with a late free kick from the ever dangerous Yaisien. The match ended 2-2 and England will now face Denmark on Friday afternoon. Hopefully both Morgan and Sterling will feature more prominently in the U17s second group match.
