Kenny and Comolli Make A Smart Move In This £5m Bid

|

It remains to be seen whether the Frenchman would be keen on a move to Merseyside, but it has become apparent recently that some of his options abroad have closed in recent weeks. Juventus purchased Reto Ziegler from relegated Sampdoria, Inter haved  signed Japanese full back Yuto Nagatomo on a permanent basis from Cesena, while Bayern Munich have bought Rafinha to play right back so Philipp Lahm can revert to his more familiar left full back role.

It seems apparent then that unless either Real Madrid or perhaps AS Roma come in for him, Clichy’s are options are limited to England. With Arsenal seemingly going backwards with Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas heavily linked with moves away, Clichy will himself have to question the ambitions of the Gunners. With Liverpool already showing they are prepared to spend heavily, the Frenchman may very well be convinced that a move to the Reds is in his best interests.

So would he be good enough for the Reds? In my mind he is, although I do have some reservations about him. He is prone to an individual error and he contributes nowhere near enough going forward for a supposedly attacking full back. Still, Arsenal only 43 conceded goals last season and the Gunners have qualified for the Champions League every season he has been first choice full back. The price is another factor, players such as Enrique, Aly Cissokho and Osasuna’s Nacho Monreal could cost at least £10million more. Are any of them worth £10m more? I think not.

Not a huge fan of his, he shot on the scene and his first couple of seasons was a good player, but because of injuries and Evra outshining him in the Prem and for his national side things looked bleak for sometime. Im suprised he’s rejected the contract offered to him and is wanting to leave, but for 5 million i think its a bargain for a player of his quality, but id still want to see Aly Cissokho or Enrique coming in along side him if he does sign……YNWA

Why Clichy? Baines has been far more consistent and has proved so. The Everton left back would be a difficult target sure and Clichy could regain his form but Baines’ is There’s a brilliant piece on Baines’ consistency over the past 3 seasons:

Think you want to watch Enrique again. There was not one winger that got passed him to the byline last season. He is one of the best in the EPL. I hope Liverpool do have doubts over Enrique, better for us.

Only 43 goals? Are you being serious? That’s nothing to be proud of! Clichy to Madrid? Erm…Marcelo? Coentrao has spoken of wanting to go there too so Barcelona want Jose Angel or Jose Enrique.

Roma have new American owners and it’s either Roma or Liverpool for Clichy. They finished sixth in La Liga and we finished sixth in the Premier League. Both are big clubs. If he wants to stay in England, he’ll come to Liverpool or maybe City if they’re in for him. If he goes abroad it’ll be Roma or a longshot in Barcelona.

I think £5m for Clichy would be an absolute snip. My only concern is the fact that he is injury prone and we already have aurelio, agger, degen, cole etc all of whom never stay fit

  • anthony says:

if he wants to play for liverpool we will get him …no worries

  • Gerrardious says:
