Gary Cahill is a quality player and although I’m dubious that he is worth £20 million, when you look at the transfer climate for English players it could be suggested he isn’t overpriced at all. It’s also worth considering that the possible departure of Cahill will be a serious blow to Bolton and they are unlikely to find a replacement of his calibre. So a fee of the magnitude being bandied about may seem overpriced to others but as far as Bolton are concerned it will be what they expect if they are to lose their star player.
At the relatively young age of 24 years old, Cahill has a bright international future ahead and he is a top defender who will only get better. As I have been writing this piece I have been mulling over whether I would splash out say, £17 million, on him if I were I charge of Arsenal or Liverpool and I have come to the conclusion of yes. Maybe it is too much, but it’s the sort of price that you have to pay for top quality defenders these days, I’m sure if teams were chasing Phil Jagielka or Micah Richards it would be the same sort of price being talked about. Is Gary Cahill a genuine talent? Yes, is he overpriced? Maybe but as far as I’m concerned still worth buying.

Isn’t Scott Dann just as good but not as over-hyped!..hmmmmmm..he would also cost a third!…Plus Dann is a Red-Scouser at heart, knows the history and would probably raise his game to a different level under Kenny! Why spend all this money on players when we are only a few squad players away from winning the league!!!..We need to rid of wastes in the CB role such as Agger (love him, but my shirt goes to waste because I attended 15 games this season and he only played in 1) and Soto (whos been a fantastic servant to the club, but wearing on old legs). Get Dann and develop Danny Wilson for goodness sake! why buy the young promising lad if we’re gonna let him rot on the bench! :s

Please, I need Gary Cahill or Issac Vorsah in LFC. Also, Charlie Adams plays like Gerrard. Lets go for him cause he loves to play for ALMIGHTY LFC. I think, will fit our style of play.
