Should we give up on him or would we live to regret his sale?

|

With reports claiming a bid from Bolton Wanderers for David Ngog is imminent; it’s time to consider whether his departure would be best for both him and Liverpool.

The young Frenchman has looked sharp so far in pre-season, perhaps driven by the fact that he was offered to Sunderland as a makeweight for the Jordan Henderson deal. His performances this summer even led to a mention by Liverpool’s owner, John W. Henry, who publicly showed his appreciation for Ngog’s efficient finishing during the tour of Asia on his twitter account. The problem is though, that David Ngog has always looked fantastic in pre-season.

When facing opponents the calibre of Guangdong and a Malaysian XI, David Ngog can appear to look like a future star, but in seasons past, the Frenchman has failed to follow up his sizzling pre season form while playing in the Premier League. He’s been at the club since 2008 and is still relatively young, but the question is whether it’s finally time to give up on N’gog.

On paper, he seems to have some of the main attributes needed to be a top striker in world football; he’s tall, he’s quick, he’s athletic and he even has decent ball control. What he seems to lack, however, is some game intelligence and confidence. It’s true that when he’s high on confidence, it shows and he looks a real player, but on more occasions than most, he’s failed to make much of an impact on the matches he’s been selected for and may now benefit from being the main man at another Premiership club.

Were was Ngog ever impressive. He is tooo slow on the ball and erratic in his game play. Get rid of him and get a LB and a CD.

He was good last season and played his part which we are all greatfull, but if he wants to further his career and fulfill thee talent that he has he needs to playing regularly. That doesn’t look likely at LFC and i doubt he features much in KK plans. So he should maybe either go out on a season long loan or move on to a club where he will get the football. I also think Pacheco is in the same boat, i don’t know why he hasn’t featured in any managers plans since hes been at the club, the lad has talent i think hes right in saying if he doesn’t get to play then he will leave because it would be a shame if hes left rotting in the reserves or on the bench he needs to be playing and for another is his best bet, good luck to both of them wherever they’re future lies……YNWA……JFT96

He shud b kept! or sent on loan.He has tremendous potential, and has scored a few top goals! He needs to b more robust, but that shud come given a more regular chance! I think LFC cud very wel regret selling him!

  • Ansar says:

Calling him a flop is not fair on the lad as he is never really given a proper chance. He gets to play only when we have no more options left. yet we expect top quality performance from him. he deserves better.

    • Martin Badger says:

There is a reason why he only plays when we have no other option. And when he does come on – how often have you seen him make a difference? His wages are obscene – kick him out.

      • Ansar says:

It isn’t wise to sell him now as we won’t get alot for him.
Loan him out to a club where he can play week in week out. Only then we can see what kind of a player he actually is. and u never know he might turn out to be a player we want to keep. or sell him at a higher price.

  • Martin Badger says:

Are you serious? The man should should be shown the door ASAP. Whatever offer comes our way we should accept it. N’gog is marginally better than Voronin – that is the only positive thing one can say about him. The idea of a top club having N’gog on their books is laughable. Go!

  • Dan says:

never really been given a proper chance he has shone on a few occasions. Of course he is going to erratic he hasn’t had regular games and lets be fair he has scored some good goals and won us a few games. To top it all why sell him for 3mill, what are we going to buy for that? send him out on loan till Jan see how he does playing regular football then decide but he has to be worth 5-6mill no point in selling him for less.

  • stan howard says:

in the hope i am proved totally wrong, i wrote on these boards before any buys that we need a top class centre half every other top team has one, a quality left back, we have been lacking one for years and another proven goalscorer – we bought none of them but stengthened an already strong midfield ? my big hope, no expectation is that kelly is that centre half or left back. i also have not a doubt in the world about the ability of raheem stirling a goal maker and a goal taker of the highest order, he should be englands youngest ever international player.

  • stan howard says:

raheem stirling is better than a young michael owen was and he was very special, the future is bright, the day he plays his first game at anfield will be the birth of a star.

  • stan howard says:

ngog is a plan c (come on and do a job) not a plan b (come on and make a diffence)

    • fADZ says:

sorry mate we dont have the time for such planners anymore..we need to win the epl and thats only if we replace players like NGOG,POULSEN,JOVANOVIC etc..we are overtaken and now we need to get rid of such players asap! n btw NGOG is no lFC material..looks like a girraffe running around the park!

  • abraham says:

ngog shud be loan and if sold shud contain a clear buy back clause. I feel he is going to be a late boomer. I hope the team mgt feels so too else we regret in 2-3yrs time.

  • Andy says:

Are you all the same people that were abusing Lucas a couple of seasons ago and praising him last year?
He is still only 22, give him time.
If we sold him, we would need a new centre forward as a squad player. Who would you really buy for the 4-6million we could sell him for?
Talk of Sterling is premature, he is still only 16 years of age. He looks something special I admit, but lets judge him again in 2 years. The number of players who were amazing at 16 and disappeared is huge.

    • fADZ says:

ummm i guesss lucas is still below average and i still think he will be the same..he won the best player last season coz other players like gerrard did not play well! he just knows how to pass..even i know how to do that..he can’t tackle hes sloww can’t shoot the ball properly?? meireles is far better than him! i m really shoked how he is surviving at LFC!

  • chocolate man says:

REGRET!!! whaaaaaaaat im praying he leaves the money grabbing son of a frenchmen he epitomises the doom and gloom of the lfc squad his a natural deadwood

  • jay man says:

David Ngog is not LFC quality. He’s a championship striker at best. I’d get rid for free should there be any takers.
All this opinions about Ngog being ‘young’ and ‘lack of opportunities’ is rubbish. He’s played over 50 games for LFC. In my view that’s over 50 opportunites to display his potential and worth. Please go David Ngog. You won’t be missed.

  • m kop says:

If Liverpool uses the money from his sale, with few more sales and gets another winger I don’t care what he does in his carer later.

In Liverpool there are 3 strikers ahead of him, if you count Kuyt so I think it’s better for him to leave. Hard for him to get a chance.

Anyway, move to Liverpool has helped him, or at least his value as a player.
