Let’s hope this rumoured Comolli plan works out

|

Still, even if a first option agreement isn’t worth the paper it is written, one advantage if there was such a deal in place, would be the opportunity to show Hazard that Liverpool would be the best choice for him.

While being able to speak to him first, the Reds could tell him that he would be a first team regular from the get go, while such opportunities would not be guaranteed at clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona. In addition, next summer, Liverpool should be in a better position to bring some of Europe’s best players to the club. Hopefully qualified for the Champions League after a good league campaign, the Reds could demonstrate they are a club on the up; something which can’t be said of a club like Arsenal.

For these reasons, having a first option in place does seem worthwhile. Is it worth paying two thirds of Joe Cole’s wage if this is indeed true? We will have to wait and see. If we buy Hazard next summer and offload Cole after a successful campaign in Ligue One, the plan will surely have worked out.

It would be great. Maybe something like: The part of the wages we as LFC had to pay for Cole will be subtracted from any deal for Hazard.

I’ve read these rumours too and I’ve heard them substantiated by a northern-based French newspaper. However, I’m reluctant to accept it. It’s just a hunch and I can’t really back it up. But it feels unlikely.

  • Bruce says:

Problem is Hazard now spends a season with Joe Cole and asks him whats Liverpool like and Cole tells him it was a nightmare don’t go there!

Hopefully vll do well in the league, competing for the LE.. Qualifying for champions league and hopefully convince Hazard v r a good enough club to for a superstar like you

A year is a long time in football.look at fernando ‘traitor’ torres.maybe a year from now,we won’t even want him

  • m kop says:

I would want him at Liverpool in a year but Liverpool must show that they are side capable of compeating, not just barely secure CL spot.

If Real, Barca or Chelsea want him CL place is not good enough any more.
