So what’s the deal with all these articles criticising him?

To get on Carroll’s back after one game this season, saying he must produce immediately, frankly is absolutely insane. But for a pathetic attempt at a challenge from Anton Ferdinand, who quite clearly was hit by a sniper, denied Andy and the reds a flying start. We had a virtually new team out against Sunderland. Agger hardly played last term, Flanno is still settling and learning his trade, Henderson, Adam and Downing all making debuts whilst Lucas and Suarez have been at the Copa America all summer. Even Enrique who knows Carroll well, (but not since January) only had one training session before the game. Two or three new faces can be hard to integrate, but some of these players would have been virtual strangers at the start of the week.

To write obituaries this early into the season, and to heap pressure onto a player that despite all his troubles up north, has knuckled down and is doing exactly what is expected of him is ludicrous. The goals will come, and come soon of that there is no doubt in my mind. The return of Gerrard will help him immensely as they have hardly played together, and whilst we all expect a decent return of goals, we should remember that this is a team in a transitional phase right now and whilst we will come good, it may take a few games yet.

There is no way on this Earth that Kenny would allow such a vast sum of money spent on a player is he did not rate, or believe in. FSG are astute people also, and bottom line, it is them that provides the funding. Their belief in Carroll is more than good enough for me to feel assured that it is only a matter of time before defences are terrorised by the ‘big man’, it should be good enough for the Anfield faithful also. Who knows, an Arsenal team pulled apart internally might just be the springboard we need.

got to wonder how anyone can question carroll 1 game into the season

  • Davie says:

I have to be honest i have doubts over Andy Carrol, rather than wanting to slate the big fella i want him to be a success for LFC we must all get behind him. A player needs more than one game to be judged its just a way of life nowadays. Aguero has been instant at Citeh, what will happen if he doesnt score in the next half a dozen games. Oh n what about a certain Mr Torres last season at Chelski “he couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo”. The press are now saying he is near his best again “Liverpool form”. Andy Carrol Prove to yourself n KK you are quality & ignore all these silly statements. YNWA.

we nid another styriker like lavezzi to take pressure off carol.ifhe is marked off in the air then its done,we then nid an alternative.u think caroil wil play against fed and vidic?they will simply head off those balls away.ewven against terry.we have always beaten manu and chelsea becoz we used the ground force approch which stretches the likes of terry, fed and vidic.rem, ember the battles with tores.

  • hannah says:

i dont know why people are doubting him. hes only played about 6 games and has scored twice. he said the other day that he loves pleaying for the club, and all fans should get behind him

  • DannyA says:

Carroll is an absolute beast and I can’t wait for all the doubters to soon be eating their words when he comes good. Add to that the rest of the team getting used to each other’s style of play and I’d hate to be any team lining up against us in the near future. YNWA
