The Lyon Duo I would like to see at Anfield

|

Dejan Lovren – Liverpool reportedly offered a sizeable amount to sign Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers this summer, before the player eventually opted for Old Trafford, and so it looks clear that the Reds are looking out for another centre back option. With Daniel Agger’s injury problems, Jamie Carragher nearing the end of his career, Soto not being a long term solution and Martin Skrtel the only other senior central defender in the squad, looking for another centre-half seems a sensible thing to do.

Scott Dann would be another option for Kenny Dalglish, but depending on Birmingham City’s financial situation, the 24 year old would still command a fee north of £10million. I can’t help thinking there are better, younger players abroad who could be bought. One such player is Lyon’s Dejan Lovren. With Lyon’s financial difficulties, both him and Cissokho maybe available for lower fees than the Uruguayan pair of Pereira and Godin we have reportedly been looking at. Lovren is a strong Croatian international and is 22, 2 years younger than Dann and 3 years younger than Godin.
