Is this Liverpool’s Best Starting Eleven?

|

CAM: Steven Gerrard- When fit, only one player deserves to play for liverpool in the ‘Gerrard Position’. Oops I may have given away the answer. Until then, Henderson or Kuyt would be able to deputise decently enough.

LWM: Craig Bellamy- He is a much better player than what we gave him credit for during his first spell at liverpool, and he proved that in two sensational seasons at West Ham and City. There was enough to be seen during his cameo against Stoke to suggest he deserves that starting spot. Neat passer, clinical finisher, and has pace to burn. Swung some tantalizing crosses as well after cutting inside.

ST: Luis Suarez-

(If you are searching for an explanation, you don’t deserve to call yourself a liverpool fan)

Others:

Dirk Kuyt- A good deputy for all postions in the front four, but his lack of any real threatening attributes means he starts on the bench when every one is fit.

Jordan Henderson – Too inconsistent, and not yet good enough to start for liverpool, has a bright future ahead of him though. Will have to improve his finishing, judging by what we saw at Stoke, although his left foot looks alright!

Maxi Rodriguez – I would love to see Maxi given more playing time on the left of the liverpool midfield. He fits into this system seamlessly as he showed towards the end of last season.

Andy Carroll – Against teams that like to sit back and defend, I would like to see Carroll play upfront and Suarez in midfield. Liverpool looked more threatening after his arrival against Stoke. Might not be worth £35 m but we should remember he is a pretty decent player, with a nuclear weapon of a left foot.

Glen Johnson – I would like to see him used as an impact substitute in midfield when he is not playing at right back. Liverpool can definitely better utilise his excellent dribbling abilities, than they have so far.

Sebastian Coates – In the long run, I think he will deposit Skrtel out of the team, but has to wait his chance.

couldnt agree more. with the right discipline and coordination, along with more playing time in order to gel with each other, this formation is highly lethal

Well, I wish only football brains would be used in treating the young Coates,I think everyone would agree that South Americans are the most gifted natural ball players on the face of the earth and we know that Coates was picked there…!Reina, Enrique-LB,Coates/skirtl/Carra-RCB,Agger-LCB,Kelly-RB,Adam-LCDM,Lcas-RCDM,Downing-LCAM,Gerrad-CAM,Kuyt/Maxi-RCAM,Suarez-ST.Adam have not settled already, but he has shown that he is a good player of coz. There would be substitutes yeah but we want a team that can match any speed of a football game.

Right ‘now’ I only see two players on that squad that are of top quality, Suarez & Reina. We have such a long way to go! A battle for 4th being the best we can hope for this year.

    • David says:

Lucas is the best DM in the prem at the moment. That would translate as world class.

      Who is much better than……..

      Enrique
      Agger
      Kelly
      Gerrard

      Fool!!!!

  • Jake says:

I think that is the best team sheet we have at the moment if we play that formation. To say the only top quality is Reina and Suarez is laughable. How about Stevie G and Agger they are world class. Then the rest of the team is top quality. Ok it might not be a team full of Messi’s but its about getting the balance right.

I like Jamie C but I think too that skirtel should be starting with Agger as they are both the same age and would be a good partnership for the future with coates being back up and possibly replacing Skertel.

  • Baz says:

    @ Prole – You’re a D**k head lad.

Sure you would be suited more to “supporting” (probably a bad choice of words in your case) Chelski or someone of that ilk.

  • Jon says:

Hopefully Agger can stay fit for most of the season…he makes a massive difference.

I’m quite excited about having two CB’s with decent passing ability on the pitch at the same time…Coates and Agger. But away from home Skrtel has to get the nod at the moment.

I’d love to see Bellamy and Downing on the wings and hopefully Sterling can start to make an impact on the first team over the next few seasons.

  • David Tyrer says:

I really could not agree more Kaushik, fantastic choice; pretty much the same side I chose before we signed Bellamy and I would’ve found room for him too!
