A Tale that is becoming all too familiar with Liverpool

|

In Andy Carroll, Suarez and Bellamy, you cannot accuse the scousers of lacking in class up top, not to mention a certain Stevie Gerrard in midfield who has been known to pop up with a goal or two in his time, yet they are still unable to finish teams off and really look secure at 1-0 to the good.

Of course they could point to sheer bad luck, with 29 attempts on goal, the Norwich keeper Ruddy in sublime form, and hitting the woodwork no less than 3 times, and if this was an isolated incident, that would probably wash as an excuse, but the fact remains this keeps happening for Liverpool, and is something that has to be eradicated from their matches before more damage is done.

The amount of money paid for their strikers does not guarantee you goals – former Liverpool hero and £50 million man Fernando Torres can attest to this, but Liverpool’s forwards simply have to start taking the chances offered to them. Saying you have played well but dropped points is something that is becoming an all too familiar story for Liverpool fans and as manager Kenny Dalglish rightly says is something they cannot fall into the trap of doing anymore – otherwise they can kiss a top four finish goodbye.

It’s not the defence that is a problem. It is the attack , or rather , the LACK of finishing attack. We are dreadful and will be finishing about 8th or 9th if this continues. We need world-class striker to partner Suarez or he WILL walk in January. His ability was flourishing in Holland because he was not the only dangerman. Another striker made opponents have to divide their time and therefore left him space to “do his thing”. At the moment we really are rubbish and I wish some of these “Trust in xxxxx” would take their heads out of their—–
    and think!

On the strenght of the Norwich game alone you can bet that we will not finsih 4th – forget it, it ain’t happening. Chelsea, Spurs, Manure, Citeh and Arseanl would not have drawn that game. Arsenal are only 2 points behind us and they have been branded “finished” this season already – that doesn’t bode well for us i’m afraid. I’d say our only hope of silverware is the Carling Cup but Liverpool “shoudl have scored” LfC will blow it as usual. It’s all too familiar; “we created chances but ouldn’t finish” – I can’t count the number of times I have heard this from Liverpool over the last 20 years or so. Top 6 only this season . . live with it people

  • Mike says:

If only Suarez and Torres played on top for us 🙁

  • Billy says:

If we weren’t making chances I’d be worried. As Kenny has said, we’ll play worse in some games than that Vrs Man U and the Budgies and still win.

Stevie is still getting back to fitness.

If we keep playing like we have done, sooner or later we’re going to be putting 4, 5 or more past someone.

Still to early to start pressing panic buttons.

    • Baz says:

      Well said Bill.

I’m sick of all these panic merchants, were they all hoping for a quick fix from Kenny? That will be a bonus not a given. Give it two or three years and this lot will have eaten (and hopefully choked to death on) their words

  • Henry says:

I think Henry is actually not pressurizing King Kenny that is the reason all this is happening. we’ve always been to patient with our managers.Just recall how Benitex was messing up with the team in the league and we let him stay for more than five yrs but when he replicated the same performance at Inter, he only lasted just six months. so if we want to challenge for trophies our managers shouldn’t be this relax

  • now learn says:

Time to stop accommodating Stevie G – Henderson should take his position and the former should play the Mascherano role – p s no excuses if we get beat tonight
