Should he be in the first team more often?

There were few positives to come out of Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Norwich last weekend, but one pleasing aspect was seeing Craig Bellamy score his first goal since his return to Anfield on transfer deadline day. In a game which highlighted Liverpool’s occasional wastefulness in front of goal, Bellamy (albeit with the help of a deflection) was the one player who managed to find a way past the outstanding Canaries ‘keeper John Ruddy.

It was only Bellamy’s second start since re-signing for the club, having also scored in the other, in the 2-1 victory at Brighton in the League Cup. With other striking options such as Dirk Kuyt and Andy Carroll currently misfiring, there is a strong case for Bellamy to be included in the starting line-up on a more regular basis.

I am currently studying Sports Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire. I have recently finished my first year of the course, and I am hoping to hone my skills by writing pieces for live4liverpool.

I have supported Liverpool since the age of 6, and in that time my favourite player has been Robbie Fowler. My favourite match was the 2005 Champions League final against AC Milan.

Craig’s role should be more of a super sub, so when the chips are down he will be the messiah. We need this kind of characters.
