Time to Decide What Our Best Side Is

|

I also think that given that we’ve got 24 league games remaining, as well as 2 more cup games – with the potential for another 7 – that we’re not exactly overloaded with games this season.  That averages about 5 games a month between now and the end of the season or 1 every weekend, with perhaps 1 midweek game each month, so there’s no reason why we can’t just stick with a solid starting 11 and perhaps rest one or two players for cup games or once we’ve got into a good lead in games.

In terms of the side I believe we should be starting with (based primarily on what I’ve seen of them since the start of the season): Reina, Enrique, Martin Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Adam, Henderson, Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy and Suarez.  Set up in a 4-5-1 would give us enough defensively in the absence of Lucas and, with the quartet of Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy and Suarez we have one of the most intelligent and forward-thinking forward lines in the league and every single one of them is more than prepared to do their bit at the back when they’re needed as well.  I would also actually like to see how Dirk would cope as a holding midfielder too, given his penchant for hard work and tracking back, he could be a more than capable stand-in for Lucas in his absence but that aside, I think that this is the best 11 we can field at the moment.

With the likes of Downing, Carroll, Johnson, Shelvey, Coates and Carragher ready to come on from the bench, we’d find few teams that we weren’t at least capable of matching and we’d have plenty of different options to mix things up a bit if the original plan wasn’t working out.  In fact, Tottenham aside, we’ve yet to find a team that can cope with us when we’ve fielded our best team, so setting up like this going forward seems like a no-brainer to me.

This all falls down if Carroll is concerned in proceedings. He has neither the talent nor application to make it in any Liverpool team.

carroll and henderson were just too poor to be a liverpool player..good for bench warmer only..

if that team had been playing most games since the biginning of the league, we would be in 1st or 2nd position in the league for sure.

zone6 you only watch Match of the Day son, Carroll is crap agreed but Henderson has improved massively the last few games, how can you not notice that.

Dirk Kuyt as a holding midfielder? Rubbish. Yes, he tracks back when playing wide, but that doesn’t mean he’s good at defending, just that he’s willing to help the defence.
I actually agree with you on most of what you say though, and the team you picked would be my 11 for the game v QPR, but with Johnson at right back.
