AFTER the disappointment of not starting another of this season’s biggest matches for Liverpool, more speculation has arisen surrounding the future of the Reds Dutchman Dirk Kuyt, with Hamburg the latest club said to be sniffing around.
The Guardian have today reported that the German club’s technical director, Frank Arnesen, has publically expressed his admiration for the 31 year old forward, who only has a year left to run on his Anfield contract.
“A player like Kuyt, who is still in good shape, can add something to any team,” Arnesen told Bild. “He is a real team-player with an excellent attitude.”
Suggestions that pre-negotiations had taken place with Hamburg are said to be wide of the mark however as Kuyt’s agent later confirmed: “There have not been any talks with Arnesen or with someone else from HSV,” he said. “Would Kuyt be interested in a move to the Bundesliga? I can’t say anything about that. A lot of clubs have made enquiries, but there’s nothing concrete for now.”
Only a few weeks ago, Kuyt himself failed to rule out a move away from Merseyside if more game time wasn’t secure with a return back to his beloved Feynoord in Holland strongly rumoured.
