Rodgers Snubs Reds Approach

SWANSEA City Manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled himself out of the vacant position at Anfield after rejecting the chance to speak to the club.

Rodgers had been one of the Bookies favourites to become the new Liverpool FC Manager after strong rumours suggested he was included in an apparent shortlist of managerial candidates drawn up by FSG.

This has been seemingly confirmed by the latest Swansea City statement:

“The club is pleased to confirm that Brendan has declined the opportunity to speak about the vacant position.”

There is a feeling that Rodgers has turned down the chance of becoming the new Liverpool FC Managers because he is unwilling to be ‘part of a process’ which would see other candidates also interviewed, before the club makes its final decision on who the best man is for the role.

Rodgers believes Liverpool should already be fully aware of what he brings to the table after his Swansea team were applauded off the pitch at Anfield, as well as defeating the Reds in the last Premier League game of the season, in which they gained constant plaudits for their possession-based, footballing style of play.

Reports this morning claim the shortlist drawn up by Liverpool owners FSG was headed by former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola. However his interest in the role would seem extremely unlikely due to his insistence in wanting to take a sabbatical from football management.

I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.

Rodgers is a very wise man. He ruled himself out of the vacant position at Anfield because he knows he wouldn’t get the job. After dismissing Dalglish, – which is a major decision in world football – The Fenway Group have ended up tying a noose round their necks. They have to appease the disillusioned fans by coming up with the best solution; which is to sign a big name manager with a winning ability.

It will happen. We can not dwell on Daglish being sacked. Its unfortunate but its what happens in sports. No is bigger than LFC… Not even King Kenny, he would be the first to say that. We must move on and trust FSG bring in someone with experience at a top level. Easier said, than done but we must ave faith…

With a new manager, there will be a nice transfer kitty. No way they hire a new manager and dont supply him with cash. I personally, would like klopp or german national coach but we shall see. I just pray stevie, andy & luis (if he is to play for Uruguay in London) come back to us healthy..

The haters will have their fun with this story but I agree, in part, with You Heard. Whoever is selected will be given some funds and they will also come in with a fresh evaluation of the existing staff and team. Hopefully this means that some who really don’t rate will go, maybe those who have stagnated or been loaned out will be reinvigorated to the level they are capable of and those who put in sub-par performances this season will play at their proper level. Rodgers, most likely wouldn’t have gotten the job anyway and played it to his best advantage, LFC will look forward to playing his team next season.

Very true Bomber25, and I’m personally quite happy Rodgers is out of the running. Not saying he would have gotten the job, but he just wouldn’t cut it at the top level IMO

We’re very lucky he refused, let’s hope Martinez gets the same notion!
