LIVERPOOL captain and living legend Steven Gerrard has hailed team-mate Luis Suarez as one of the World’s best and admitted that he would not swap Liverpool’s Uruguayan ace for any other player on the planet.

Suarez was in sensational form against Norwich in his last Premier League outing, netting his first ever hat-trick for Liverpool, one of the best that the Premier League has ever seen, and scoring a very serious contender for Goal of the Season in the process.

Gerrard, who provided the assist for Suarez’s opener, believes that having the striker in such great form can only bode well for Saturday’s F.A. Cup final at Wembley.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the captain said:

“It’s great for us that Luis is going into the final in such tremendous form, it was a magical hat-trick at Norwich. He took his goals brilliantly. He showed that he’s a world-class player. At the moment I wouldn’t swap Luis for anyone in the world.”

He went on to say:

“I’ve got faith in our squad. We have been fantastic in the cups this season and we need to continue that. We’ve proved we can compete with the top sides this season. Now we have to overcome another one to win the trophy.”

Fernando Torres, the Spaniard who quit Liverpool for Chelsea in a record breaking move in January 2011, also scored a hat-trick at the weekend, albeit a much less impressive one. When asked about the danger posed by his former team-mate Gerrard replied:

“We will have to wait and see what team their manager picks but if Fernando Torres is in there then he will be a threat, we saw it on a daily basis when he was here what he’s capable of. He’s had a difficult time at Chelsea but he seems to have got his form back. If he’s selected, he will be one of a number of their players we’ll have to keep a close eye on.”

Finally, when pushed on the subject, Gerrard remarked:

“Fernando Torres wanted to go to Chelsea and you have to respect that. The club didn’t stand in his way and we moved on without him. We’re delighted with the strikers we’ve got here.”
