ACCORDING to reports coming out of Talksport, Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers is weighing up a move for Real Madrid’s young hitman Alvaro Morata.

The Madrid born striker has already been linked with a move to the Premier League as recently as January when it was reported Arsenal were keen on taking the 19-year old on-loan, as well as Wigan Athletic. It was believed however that the deal fell through at the request of Jose Mourinho.

Talksport say Rodgers has expressed an interest in the young striker as he looks to pep up the Reds attack, and solve the goalscoring problems which dogged the team last season. Morata certainly fits the bill of being a young and technically savvy goalscorer, in the mould of another player that has been linked with Liverpool this week – Italian forward Fabio Borini.

Morata enjoyed an excellent season with Real Madrid Castilla (Real Madrid’s reserve team), scoring 17 goals and earning his team promotion to the Spanish Segunda Division (Spain’s second tier) for the first time in 6 years, after winning the Segunda Division B.

In total Morata has hit 32 goals in just 65 appearances for Real’s reserve squad and has also played for the 1st team on two occasions. He also represented Spain at the 2011 U-19 European Championships last year, finishing as the competitions top scorer with 6 goals, as the country claimed yet another international trophy.

Liverpool are not the only club said to be interested in the young hotshot however as it is claimed both Newcastle United and QPR, who are willing to pay Morata £30,000 a-week in wages, are seeking his signature.

I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
