Reds Confident of Keeping Agger

ACCORDING to the ever reliable Liverpool Echo, Liverpool Football Club and Brendan Rodgers are “unfazed” about Manchester City’s reported interest in Daniel Agger.

The Dane, who starred in Denmark’s Euro 2012 campaign, is a firm favourite at Anfield and has previously stated his desire to remain at the club long-term.

Sky Sports News had reported that City had made an initial offer of £13m for the central defender over the weekend and, after having it rebuffed, had come back with a bid of £16m.

Liverpool have denied that any offer has been tabled, although they did confirm interest from the Premier League’s richest club.

City are also believed to have shown an interest in Martin Skrtel, Agger’s defensive partner, however both are integral to Brendan Rodgers’ plans and the club remain confident that they will sign extensions to their current deals, which still have two years to run.

It is highly unlikely that Daniel Agger would move to another Premier League club unless Liverpool wanted to sell him. He has a massive respect for the club, the fans and the history – something which he spelt out in the wake of Fernando Torres’s departure.

“Torres showed lack of respect for Liverpool. I will never go to another club in England.”

Thanks Neil for a decent article. It’s interesting how the ‘Worring signs as first team quality continue to exit’ tripe below (also written as though it’s fact) attracted so many comments and something more positive and also realistic in my opinion attracted less.
