LFC KellyLIVERPOOL FC’s head of performance Glen Driscoll has announced that duo Fabio Borini and Martin Kelly are doing very well in their recovery process from their injuries.

Borini dislocated his shoulder against Swansea last month, and Kelly has been out for a significantly longer period of time, since September with a knee injury. Borini has started training at Melwood outside, and it is possible that the Italian may be able to return before the end of season which is earlier than expected. Driscoll has said to liverpoolfc.com:

“Fabio Borini was outside for the first time on Thursday, so he’s starting that progression, passing balls, running and doing ball work, he’s due to be probably another six weeks from this point on.

“The injury he’s had is normally eight to 12 weeks. He’s quite a quick rehabilitator. At the moment, it’s looking pretty positive for Fabio that he could be back ahead of schedule and maybe make the end of the season.”

Driscoll also praised Kelly’s rehabilitation from his injury, however he states that manager Brendan Rodgers will refrain from selecting him this season in order to ensure that he is back to full fitness next season.

“Martin is doing extremely well, he’s probably at the late stage of his rehab. We’ll probably look to prioritise getting him back for pre-season 110 per cent fit, stronger and quicker, more powerful and agile than he was previously.

“He’ll probably be in a position where it will be tempting to put him into games again this season. But it will show class and quality if we make sure that he’s in a very strong position so he can fly next season.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
