LFC Spain targetACCORDING to various reports in Spain and England, Spanish Under-21 forward, Luis Alberto, is set to join Iago Aspas and Kolo Toure as Brendan Rodgers’s third signing of the transfer window.

The Reds, learning the lesson of last year’s heel dragging, have acted quickly so far in their efforts to attract talent to the club, and the courting of Luis Alberto is another example of Liverpool’s scouting network working quickly and efficiently to pinpoint targets.

The highly rated 20 year old is a product of the Sevilla youth system, but spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he played for the club’s B team.

The Catalan giants have an option to make the deal permanent, however this must be exercised by June 13th and sources close to the club have hinted that the clause will not be activated.

Luis Alberto is a forward, who can operate centrally or in a wider role, normally on the left of a front three. The youngster is known for his comfort on the ball, his ability to make space and time for himself and his team-mates, his vision and his delivery from wide areas.

He is also something of dead ball specialist, as well as having an eye for goal, a fact highlighted by his 11 goals in 32 starts last season. However, it’s Luis Alberto’s ability and willingness to create goals for his team-mates that really catches the eye, and it’s a quality that Brendan Rodgers will be hoping the Reds can utilise to its fullest potential.

The Spaniard created 18 goals for his team last year, and with strikers such as Daniel Sturridge and (possibly still) Luis Suarez at the club, he should be well equipped to improve on that at Liverpool.

Reports in Spain claim that personal terms have been agreed, between the player’s representatives and Liverpool Football Club, on a four year deal, with a fee the only thing remaining to be thrashed out between the clubs. Sevilla reportedly value the player at €9.5m, however it is likely that a deal could be struck for as little as €6m.

Luis Alberto has said about the proposed move,

“It would be foolish and deluded of me to say no to a club like Liverpool”.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports’s Spanish expert Guillem Balague remains convinced that the switch will take place, writing.

“Luis Alberto is the other Spanish player that is about to agree to join Liverpool.”

Should Liverpool conclude the deal as expected, the capture of one of La Liga’s hottest young prospects would represent a significant coup for Brendan Rodgers and the Anfield side.

Luis Alberto is, like Coutinho, primed to make an immediate impact on the Premier League. Technically gifted, comfortable on the ball and strong for his age, he’s the kind of exciting talent that LFC should be looking to bring in to help the current side progress.

I’m so excited ahead of next season, coutinho,Alberto,Gerrard,Suarez,Sturridge what a combination!

  • Samuel Charles Evans says:

We still need more and better quality for the present time.

We could yet and should see these players leave the club –

Skrtel, Shelvey, Coates, Ngoo, Flanagan, Spearing, Wilson (gone), Assiadi, Carroll.

    Skrtel = Alderweireld
    Coates = Ilori
    Shelvey = Aspas
Spearing, Ngoo, Pacheco, Flanagan = left back?
    Carroll = C.Eriksen
Carragher = Toure (and a huge wage save each week for the club)

tHAT SHOW THAT EVEN AT THE MOMENT WITH SUAREZ SALE THAT THE OWNERS ARE STILL NOT HAVING TO SPEND ANY NEW MONEY??

Which then leaves ? Suarez, Downing, Reina?

    Id keep Reina.
Sell downing, if Suarez wants out then sell him for as much as poss, and cash in.

BUt baring in mind the owners even if Suarez stays will still not have to spend a penny? THAT’S GOT TO CHANGE

    • red33 says:

Very optimistic, kick BR out and get you in,what say you? lol

    • Jas says:

Why does Downing get so much stick. He played really well last few months. I think he is twice the player Joe Allen is!

      • Gaz says:

Again. Shows a bit of lack of knowledge if u gave to ask that . He has been ok in last few months .nobody can say he played really well. He is not even same position as Allen either so silly to compare

  • Bad boy says:

Suarez will stay Liverpool will finish fourth

  • amit says:

I would love to see this kid at anfield I dont expect him to make immediate impact like his countryman aspas who I think is absolutely steal and u will see this when the season starts and if Suarez decides to go sell him for 45-50 mill and by erikssen 12-15 mill, papdoupolious from schalke for around 12 mill, diame – 4mill and diamio for 15-20 mill and if possible go for leighton baines around 12-15 mill and sell enrique for 6-8 mill in this way will one of the best 11 on the filed along with good subs who can make impact.

At least top 4 is guaranteed, isnt it?

  • Kilasho says:

Pls. More players will still av to leave. Pls sign a matured player better than those. What ot dat schalke 04 guy

  • Beast says:

I like the fact that rodgers is bringing in young talented stars and looking towards the future but I think assaidi has so much potential and should be given a chance…he has exceptional skills and finds it easy to get past defenders…and samuel charles evans you can’t expect liverpool to sell so many players use your head! Can’t wait for next season #YNWA

  • kav says:

Aspas and Alberto will be squad players , not the players to take us to top 4. We need to sign top players

  • Temilovic says:

some lfc fans ar happy wit Aspas n toure-”manageable” capture, anoda 1 LA on his way, always countin who 2 release n 2sale. Non of u hav said anytin abt lfc left back ‘JE’, 15m waste strike F BORINI. Ur coach sold AQUALANI who hav sight on goal n recruit ALLEN who cud nt man mark CARRICK against man u, n u tink dat wit BR always wantin 2play his favourite players, lfc wil get 2top 4? Let me giv lfc fans d list of players dat ar nt supose 2wear dat jersy again; Reina- Mignolet, Enrique-Downing n Illori, Allen, spearing, Henderson,(A,S n H) -Henrik, Luis A, Borini- Ibe Jordan 4rm reserve team. Wit these added i 4see lfc lifting PREMIER LEAGUE nt even d targetd top 4.

    • Jas says:

Could we have that In some sort of English please?? Honestly I only got about 50% of your Post!

  • Roy says:

These players BR has bought in won’t make a difference, probably end up worse than last year, unless we buy the likes of Papodopoulous, Illoris, Erikson and the likes. Also we haven’t heard who is to be shown the door.

  • jack f says:

the good old liverpool way. Sell the established/old expensive and buy young and cheap. Kenny dalglish changed that in 1986. BR is putting things straight. maybe it takes another season before top 4, but the wheels are driving the right way

    • kav says:

What a silly comment. Liverpool were a lot better before Rodgers started buying his below average gang of midgets.

And it’s even more stupid because it’s not true. Since shanks made us great Liverpool have always bought top players….dalglish , r Kennedy, clemence, Souness , etc etc ….you don’t know what your talkin about

  • doobaz says:

I don’t know this guy but aspas is a good player, now get erikson, mykiteryan diame and micah richards. Out carrol, pacheco, spearing loan out suso flanagan robinson Then liverpool would be more than top 4 contenders but tittle contenders.

  • Ben says:

“…the capture of one of La Liga’s hottest young prospects would represent a significant coup….”
…erm, he didn’t even make the squad for the Euro u21’s.

  • Makintosh says:

Let d manager do his job nd let him do wat he’s paid to do. FSG choose BR wen punks lyk u are around. Jst let BR buy players dat he feel can adapt to his game. Xpensive players dnt always deliver, we hav carrol, downing, jst ask chelsea they wil ans u very wel. If u dnt lyk BR go nd hang urself. YNWA

  • jonzz says:

Makintoch tell dem, they don’t knw what they are saying.may be liverpool should ve employed them as our manager.

  • ben says:

Kav you not the brightest crayon in the box are you? Liverpool haven’t been better for the past 3\4 seasons if you want to be critical then nothing has changed, everyone wants top players I just don’t think we can afford them, so he makes due with what he has, and you should add Rush to your pointless list, he was from the league below and cost penny’s can’t remember how well he did though?

  • stevie says:

Woould like to see mccarthy ince and lescott brought in. In fact, why did we get toure when we didn’t even try for lescott? He would have cost about 4m. Surely the thought of playing regularly is more appealing than sitting on citeh’s bench all the time. And why not take a punt on gary hooper?

  • Raam says:

Saw L.Alberto in few games. Not satisfied, opened youtube and to my suprise this boy can really play. His passing, dribbling and his goals are brilliant. Similar to Coutinho. Powerful header too. Hope he will shine brighter at LFC.

    • Jack says:

Oh great . Another dope judging players on YouTube !!!

      • Jas says:

Oh great. Another dope posting on here just to critisize someone else Post.

Personally I think we have enough of this type of player. We need a defensive midfielder in the Alonso mould. And a top young centre back like Papadopulos or De Vrijj.

    • eyasu says:

wow nice i like him too! lets have him soon.

  • red says:

    LFC is buying:

    1) relegation threatened team striker => aspas

    2) B team striker => Luis Alberto

    3) the final contract veteran => Kolo Toure

I need to revise my prediction for LFC. The teams I expected to finish above LFC in coming season if BR still there and LFC still accepting those lower quality & cheapo players:

    1) Chelsea
    2) Man City
    3) Man United
    4) Spurs
    5) Arsenal
    6) Swansea
    7) Everton
    8) West Brom
    9) Sunderland

I still hoping for a new manager before the season is started.

    • Howard says:

Unfortunately a new manager won’t be coming. But the rest of what you say is worryingly true.

    • Jas says:

Can’t wait to read what your ‘type of Fan’ will have to say at the end of next season, when we have our best season in years!
      You better believe it!

  • nickliv23 says:

Seam to remember sturridge as a second stringer till he joined us. If we knew everything we would be the boss.why not wait &see how they perform in a liverpool shirt, before passing comment. Dont forget a. lot off fans said. Coutiniho?who is he well we know now. A little diamond.

    • Howard says:

Coutinho was highly rated talent , only sold by inter Milan because they needed quick cash. Coutinho had experience playing at the highest level in 2 major leagues.

Hardly the same as a reserve team player
