AnfieldTHERE is good news for Reds supporters’ as the start of the 2013-2014 Barclays Premier League season brings with it an upgrade for the Liverpool FC Squad.

The bad news is that, they may be without two key players, Pepe Renia and Luis Suarez.

Regardless, it is important to point out as a Liverpool FC supporter, that the measuring stick for success as a footballer and certainly as a supporter is in fact the ability to play amongst the very best, the elites.

Surely, Mr. John Henry must know, that be it baseball or football, nothing beats or replaces the share thrill and excitement of playing at the highest level. In our case, this is Champions League football; in other words, Champions League is to football as the World Series is to baseball. Therefore, Mr. Henry took over Liverpool FC on the premise that he would deliver Champions League football once more to Liverpool, amongst other promises.

We are entering our third anniversary with Fenway Sports Group at the helm, and still there is no progress to be excited about. However, so far, the Americans seem willing to back the manager in his efforts to assemble a group of players that fits his philosophy.

And with Brendan Rodgers expected to continue overhauling his squad, the start of the Premier League season will welcome the much needed metamorphosis of the Liverpool Football squad. In addition, with Liverpool set to kick-off their campaign at home against Stoke City, followed by a string of games that, apart from the Manchester United game, should be hands down winnable games, at least on paper. But we are not playing on paper are we?

Nevertheless, with this potential squad and waves of talented players set to join, Rodgers will have no excuses why we will not be able to be in the top two or three in the league by November.

Brendan Rodgers’ task will be to get the Reds playing at a consistently high level, in addition to successfully integrating his new recruits.

If reports are to be believed and Luis Suarez is indeed going to stay, then this is a peek of the potential starting eleven for Liverpool FC:

Reina

Johnson/Agger/Toure/Enrique

Gerrard/Lucas Leiva

Aspas/Mkhitaryan/Suarez*

Sturridge

Substitutes: Mignolet, Ilori, Luis Alberto, Downing, Sterling, Skrtel, Borini, Allen , Wisdom, Henderson, Shelvey, Suso, Coutinho.

It is thought that Brendan Rodgers is set to continue his rebuilding exercise with the rumoured addition of Ghanaian international winger Christian Astu to his already talented squad.

In fact, with so much buzz about Luis Suarez’s saga, not much is being said of the already capable Liverpool squad. However, nothing can be achieved without the above mentioned additions, and so I urge Fenway Sports Group to stop procrastinating. There is really not many alternatives, especially now that foragers like Tottenham FC are lurking around and seemingly set on making a living on Liverpool FC’s scouts.

It makes sense to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. Also, with Alex Ferguson’s retirement, it means that the deck will be reshuffled, and surely we can’t afford to find ourselves at the bottom (again).

I have been a Liverpool F.C supporter since the mid 80's, I fell in love with this club when I saw the likes of Ian Rush and John Barnes play. I hold a Law degree from the University of London ,and a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of the West Indies.

  • Craig says:

Why would you leave coutinho out??? Are u messing!

  • Craig Marsh says:

    Mignolet

    Johnson/Agger/Toure/Enrique

    Gerrard/Lucas/Henderson

    Coutinho/Sturridge/Aspas

I’d like to see us sign another 1-2 centre backs and maybe even a left back. Suarez leaving could be a blessing in disguise, no doubt he is a world class player but we could strengthen some positions with his transfer money and the team looked very good without him towards the end of the season.
Also got a feeling that Borini will end up as our first choice striker by the end of the season

  • Denis D says:

First and foremost : I think that the sale of these dead wood average hard working players still is needed: 1: GK: B Jones 2:RB: Flanagan 3:CB: Coates 4:DM: Spearing 5: AM: Pacheco 6: RW / RWF: Assaidi 7: LW / LWF: Downing 8: AM: Shelvey 9: FD: Borini

I think B rodgers could raise £ £25-£30M selling those Dead wood average hard working players still at club.

And P Reina will either Join Barcelona, Arsenal Or move to Napoli for £10-£12M

If that is the case there will be £35-£42M to bring in 5 defensive players:

1: GK: To compete with Mignolet: A Mccarthy(23) Of Reading for £4-£7M
2: CB: K Papadopoulos(21) Of Schalke for £10-£15M to compete with Skrtel
3: CB: M Sakho(23) Of PSG for £10-£12M to compete with Agger and Toure
4: LB: A Cissokho(25) Of Valencia for £4-£6M to compete with Enrique
5: DM: E Capoue(24) Of Toulouse for £7-£10M to compete with Lucas

Then owners and B Rodgers should stand firm and should only sell Suarez for £55 to £65M

As suarez is currently the third best player in world at moment and Neymar cost Barcelona £61m and Real Madrid have offered £65M plus as their first offer.

And Suarez is better than both of them, so he should not be sold for no less than £55M

But if Bayern Munich, PSG, Real Madrid Or Manchester City meet that Valuation then he should be shipped out and replaced with these 5 attacking players, but owners would have to add £8m to money brought in from Suarez sale:

    1: FD: C Benteke(21) Of A Villa for £18-£22M

    2: FD: L Muriel(23) Of Udinese for £10-£14M

    3: RW / RWF: Nolito(26) Of Benfica for £3-£6M

4: LW /LWF: D Capel (25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £3-£7M

    5: AM: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao for £10-£14M

These five attacking players would cost club: £43-£64M

They would bring more class, quality, quality competition for places, creativity, depth, goals, mobility, movement, pace and speed to the squad.

Then with the 9 dead wood average hard working players sold and shipped out and our two world class players who seem to want out also sold, that would mean 11 players would have been shipped out.

And then the 10 players i have mentioned should be brought in:

With that said , we would have two strong line ups for the premier league, Fa Cup and Carling Cup this season: And squad would have more class, creativity, goals, quality, quality competition for places, mobility, , power, pace, speed and Steel within the squad.

And this would be the Premier league first 11:

    Mignolet
    Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique

    Lucas Gerrard
    Coutinho
    Nolitto Benteke Capel

FA Cup and Carling Cup first 11:
    Mccarthy
    Kelly Toure Papadopolous Cissokho
    Allen Capoue
    Alberto
    Munian Sturridge Aspas

Both teams have solid Goal keepers, Solid defense, Good solid attacking fullbacks Good ball winner in centre of park/ defensive midfielder, Good creativity in middle of park and in attack both teams have mobility, pace and speed.
