Let him go – along with the mud-slinging

Suarez packs LFCBY now, any Liverpool fan should be aware that Luis Suarez has announced his desire to leave the club, with Real Madrid, hot on his heels.

Reports first surfaced that Madrid could activate a £40m buy-out clause after the Uruguayan international stated he would be reluctant to turn down an offer from the Spanish giants.

The way things are panning out Liverpool may best be served by selling Suarez.

Yes, he may be the best player in the Liverpool squad but even he has his price. FSG are reportedly only interested in offers in excess of £50m for Suarez, which would make him a more expensive sale than Fernando Torres.

Liverpool FC could make masterful gains of improvement with an additional £50m or more available to them. The club may have had their share of transfer blunders in the past, even as recently as the past summer, but ever since the January transfer window it appears the club’s transfer policy has improved.

Liverpool have their share of holes to fill but with £50m they could purchase at least three or four talented and promising players. The list of players linked with Liverpool doesn’t need repeating here but it is important to imagine who could be bought with such a hefty income.

Furthermore, Suarez may have overstayed his welcome at Anfield. His performances speak for themselves but so do his actions. Some of his highly documented controversies could be defended but not all of them. After a certain amount of negative attention perhaps enough is enough.

Liverpool have steadfastly defended their player even against the most offensive and brutal attacks from the media. However, it seems that their loyalty is not being repaid. After attempting to shield their player from numerous controversies and defending his name, Luis Suarez decides to throw the club under the bus while on international duty.

Regardless of his playing potential, no one player should be bigger than the club.

For all the history and allure that Liverpool Football Club possesses, they cannot continue to stand by a player that is continually dragging their name through the mud. With his recent actions and statements to the press, it is clear that Luis Suarez cares little about Liverpool FC no matter how loyal they have been to him.

It is time to cash in on the Uruguayan and move in a new direction with players who understand what it means to put on the Liverpool shirt.

Well said “no one player should be bigger than the club, Liverpool”. Sell him.

  • David Tobin says:

Nobody gave more in a Liverpool shirt than Luis Suarez last season , NOBODY !!

We wont be able to attract top players to replace him , and after Torres sale it sends out the message that we are now a selling club

He must stay, he is the only world class player we have as Gerrards best days ate behind him

And whats more , he doesnt deserve the criticism some fans are giving him . He is justified in wanting to play for a club with champ league football .

    • shaffi says:

Agree with KD no one is bigger that the crest, we have had greater player than luis that left. A 50mil price tag will accomodate 10 games suspension and valued for 2 world class players. 10 games suspension will cost us the 4th position next season as sturridge could misssed 1st Q of next season.I believed it is time to knock out MU from the top and to challenge Chelsea & Arsenal. Hope BR will bring someone as talented as Coutinho.I would like to have Michu as his replacement who can hits the ground running.

    • Andrew McClusky says:

I agree with what you said, however I must point out a couple of things. Firstly, we cannot hold him against his will and if he wants to leave then Liverpool would best be served by cashing in on him. Secondly, I don’t criticize him for wanting to play champions league football but I criticize him for making these statements behind Liverpool’s back after they have done so much for him and after he has told them he wants to stay. It’s his lack of loyalty to the club that isn’t needed, no matter the talent.

  • KittyKill99 says:

I’ve seen many great players come and go. Some you think will be a catastrophic loss at the time. But every year I’ve still loved watching my team play. The names do change but the club is always in the heart of the fans because we and the club never walk alone. Unlike you Luis, Fernando. You didn’t treat the club with respect so……..Your on your own. Good riddance.

  • Ibrahim says:

Suares does not seem to be a player that will under perform on the pitch even if he wanted to leave, but the off field speculation questioning by media and other sources can cause some disruption in the squad harmony. Saying that if we can get 50mil for him and get 2 class players like Eriksen / Mkhitaryan and Lukaku / Benteke / Higauin

  • Temmy says:

Enough is enough please let him go. £50 m will get us two top class players

  • Jim says:

We are doomed if we sell our only great player as Rodgers can’t replace him with quality

  • mctunzzy says:

There’s a problem with some fans….They can’t figure out when something golden is turning to shit. Suarez is a good player but, honestly he seems to be feeling he’s all in all for liverpool, which is not good for the club. Why didn’t madrid buy him when he left Ajax after biting a colleague’s ear,Liverpool was there for him in times of Racism and bites…..Liverpool have always been a life saver for Suarez. If I were Brendan,I wouldn’t sell Suarez this season,I will just make sure I buy a goal poacher and sit Suarez on the bench for most of d season. That may sound not right but, honestly let this guy go if he really wants to go but never at a cheap price,Madrid has to pay for d damages.

    • bob says:

absolute nonsense . ‘sit suarez on bench ‘ ?

liverpool have done extremely well out of suarez

  • vjm says:

Those who are saying sell him and we will replace him with class players….. please keep in mind we are not in champions league. Right now we have only 2 world class players Suarez and Gerrard. Our captain has already passed his best, now the question is if we sell Suarez will we be able to attract top players with out CL? and we will not be offering huge salaries.

    vjm

  • bob says:

I would say sell him but rodgers cannot be trusted with a huge sum of money . we must replace him with one or two star established names , not more upcoming maybe talents

  • Mmadubuike Cj Emmanuel Kizito says:

If liverpool can do dis .. I will be happy and all the fans will be happy and trophies and our glory will be back.. It is understood we have only 20 million to spend… Plz LFC should sell Suaraz,Downing, and Carrol. And get dis players for me. Henrikh from Sharker Donesk, Aspa from Celta vigo, Begovic from Stoke and David Villa. Plz can someone tell me the outcome of a team like dis.. Reina or Begovic,2 Johnson, 3 Enrique, 5 Agger , 6 Kolo Toure, @ midfield Gerrad,Coutihno,Henrikh,Lucas,Aspa and Suso.

  • stevieG says:

Sell Suarez. I love the guy but if we can get 45m we should sell. …but he must be replaced by a world class striker like Negredo or Higuain

  • desiekid says:

get a life Andrew McClusky and do your job properly and listen to the interview before you write lies !!your nearly as bad as Kelvin MacKenzie .if your going to write for this website be a fan and get to the bottom of stories instead of copying other media sources..im disgusted!!

    • Viewpoint X says:

Well, I’ve heard a lot of fans talk about Suarez being misquoted, but no one has backed up their statement. Please post a link to the interview to back up your position.

    • Andrew McClusky says:

What lies did I write? I wrote an opinion piece based on the information that was available at the time. Have you, yourself bothered to read any of the articles that have been written surrounding Suarez? Perhaps, if you did, you would realize that they are all saying the same thing, which an intelligent person could then deduce that perhaps these sources are correct. I understand you don’t want to lose Suarez because of his terrific talent but it may be time to stop living in your fantasy world and realize that he could indeed, leave. Once you do that, then come back and read this piece and maybe you will understand the arguments I made for why Liverpool could be better off without him, seeing as he appears reluctant to stay.

      • deisekid says:

you should show the quote from the interview where luis suarez said he wants to leave liverpool, you wrote an opinion ???,”” any Liverpool fan should be aware that Luis Suarez has announced his desire to leave the club”” so what is it opinion or fact ??i m living in a fantasy world ?no im living in a world where i dont give opinions i base them on facts thats my occupation mr andrew mcclusky, maybe you should do the same as your this website is viewed by a lot of fans and not print issues based on the information you had available at the time

        • Andrew McClusky says:

I’m sorry, I just honestly have no idea what you are trying to say. And why do have quotations in your response? Please try and make your arguments more clearly and then I will be happy to have this conversation with you when I can understand what point you are trying to make or how you are trying to insult me

  • kersh says:

Sell him for 40mil + higuin.. Then buy Erriksen, Mkhitaryan. That’s 3 world class players for Luis. And for those who’s saying we finished without Suarez, check the stats. We have won more games without him than with him in the side. Look at the end of last season?? Sturridge n counthino did brilliantly. And I think if we get those 3 players I mentioned along with Iogo Aspas who we agreed to buy already, I really think we will have a deadly attack next season. Lots of goals in the side. As for our defence I’d say sell Carrol and buy Papadopolus and hopefully the owners can give Rogers another 20mil for a top winger or Negredo. Selling Luis suarez may be the best thing to happen to LFC. No time for players that don’t respect the crest! YNWA..

  • Ebri says:

Whenever the guy wants to go pls show him the door. Jackson Martinez won’t cost that much, bring him and any other winger to replace Downing ( players who will RESPEK the lfc red shirts) and lfc will still be challenging for top 4 position nxt season. YNWA

  • Brigadier says:

‘Suarez overstayed his welcome’? Speak for yourself you dipstick! I hope Luis stays as long as possible, the man can do things with a ball the rest cant even dream of.

  • Geoff says:

Do NOT sell Suarez. He is the reason why people watch Liverpool now.

Fans should be slagging and wanting rid of rubbish like Allen , Downing or Borini , whom offer us nothing

Keep Suarez , build a team around him. Can’t blame him for wanting to leave but we mustnt let him

  • akin says:

let him leave if he want.but dat will make him a traitor, afterall he is not d first person to do that to do it for lfc.ynwa

  • Wendy says:

I wonder why Suarez have refused to stand up for Liverpool fc at this period. A good turn deserves another. The club have always stood by him in all circumstances. Talents will come and go but the club remains! I hope the lad stays for at least 2 more seasons with Liverpool to win some trophy. If he goes to Real Madrid, he cannot be as important there as he will be at Anfield. There are many stars at Madrid that will overshadow him. He might even be benched most of times there. Look at Modric, Pepe, Kaka, Higuain etc. A word is enough for a wise!

  • Wendy says:

Bad press or good press, he seriously need to refine his character! Suarez should go and understand what the word LOYALTY means. The club and manager have been extremely loyal to him always. He does not realize he is the biggest star at Liverpool now just as Cristano Rolando is at Real Madrid! Can he overshadow C. Rolando at Real Madrid? No is the answer.

  • soji says:

Please dn’t sell suarez no matter d amount of money any club wil offer,4 now no player can replace him except messi & ronaldo, 4 LFC, we can’t adapt d act of sellin our best player & expectin 2 be contender. Look at MAN U situatn wit rooney, man u stil keep him, look evry club wants stars, look @ a club like monaco, psg etc but we are talkin abt sellin d one GOD has given 2 us.for antiliverpool & antisuarez, u knw laliga hv being dominatin d world football 4 so long now.& 4 EPL 2 b there we must stop sellin our stars 2 dem. pls keep suarez & save EPl. EPL pls dn’t sell bale & suarez. A word is enough d wise.
