Mkhitaryan Fee Agreed

Armenia LFCACCORDING to various news reports in Russia and the UK, Liverpool Football Club have agreed a fee with Ukrainian Champions, Shakhtar Donetsk, regarding the transfer of three times Armenian Footballer of the Year, Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Russian news outlet Sports Express has reported that a fee of around £25m (€30m) has been agreed between the two clubs, and that Mkhitaryan will be unveiled as a Liverpool player within the next 72 hours, subject to a medical.

Meanwhile, FutbolTV has also reported that Mkhitaryan is set to become a Red, stating that the player will arrive in Liverpool to complete his medical, possibly on Monday, following the arrival of his agent, Italian, Mino Raiola.

Reports had been circulating in Germany over the last few days that Dortmund were keen on taking Mkhitaryan to the Bundesliga, however the reports in Bild appear to have been a re-hashing of an earlier attempt by the Champions League finalists to prize the highly rated attacking midfielder from Shakhtar, their €23m bid having been rejected some time ago. The leaked story looks to have served its purpose though, by prompting Liverpool to act decisively in hammering out a deal good enough to finally land their target.

With personal terms believed to have been, at the very least, discussed, if not already agreed, there would appear to be little remaining which could scupper the proposed deal at this late stage.

With that in mind, it seems more than likely that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be officially unveiled as a Liverpool player by Wednesday at the very latest.

Great to see business done and being done early.

I believe we needed/need 1 marquee singing and this could be it. He is a quality player for sure. I was hoping on Erikson a month ago but would be happy with just 1 of this level.

Plenty of time now to clear out the squad to raise funds and balnace them books both transfer/wages – I for one (after the HEN transfer is completed of course) am intruiged on who’s heading for the exit door…

FSG promised BR £20m cash this summer without sales, so I’m guessing they are banking on selling to make up the dif in what we’ve spent…
shelvey, downing, spearing, coates, reina, henderson, Skrtl, suarez ???

Shelvey: I like shelvey but if BR is not going to play him then £6m will b handy

Downing: I think he proved last year that he could be a good cover player next season but at £20m and high wages it doesn’t fit the pay/squad structure to have him as cover – plus his age, prob the best time for his resale value. (£7m would be ok if we don’t think about the £20m paid).

Spearing may generate £2-3m and Coates may end up leaving on loan bcos of his age.

Skrtl: strange situation, under Kenny, he and agger were rated as the best partnership in the prem – really don’t kno about this one but if he goes, it would be a handy £8m.

Henderson: I’m not a fan personally, but I know plenty who are, so squad player or a £7m sale – I’d say keep as squad player as we won’t really get enough to warrant the sale.

Reina: writings on the wall for me, expect him to be sold for around £8m.

Assadi: didn’t get a chance or flop, u decide: £3-4m back to holland.

Which leaves Suarez: I just want it to be sorted early as possible so we can replace (don’t want to be left with £30m odd and only sturridge and Borini as 1st team CF’s)

SO even without the Suarez situation we could expect another £10-15m signing to come in – maybe shoppings not all finished..?!? Centre half?

Dont forget Aspas…the Spain coach Del Bosque said he could just have easily been picked for the Confederations cup as any of the other strikers. The guys gonna surprise a lot of people this coming season IMO

  • frank says:

The head price is way too high for an unknown player. Show the fans what he is able to do on the pitch ( video please ?? )

  • Greg says:

The man himself is at least by the picture here saying “am the one”. I admire him for choosing Liverpool over other more appealing teams in term of European Football. Just hope he’s coming to conquer and stay put.

  • Basilius Nchimbi says:

    Lets us watch and see

  • Dean Fitzpatrick says:

Bring in yossi benayoun on a free for a bit of creative experience

    • Greg says:

No Sir. That’s denying our young and coming midfielders the opportunity to grow. That is Liverpool in the years gone!!!! Henrikh Mhkitaryan will provide that and he’s still young enough to serve us for years to come. Lets focus on the future bro.

  • Greg says:

I wish we can get Suarez to stay and then keep improving the squad every transfer window with at least one quality signing.
Though I must also share my thoughts here: I firmly believe no player should be greater than the club so if he chooses out, so be it. We will get there one way or the other. It will be much easier with him in the side.
