The right replacement for Suarez?

|

Armenia LFC targetAT this time of year the transfer rumour mill is in overdrive. While little can be taken for granted it does seems highly likely Luis Suarez will be heading for the Anfield exit door.

Never before in recent memory has a player so divided opinion and emotion. Despite past players like Eric Cantona and Paolo Di Canio proving capable of moments of complete insanity it seems Suarez remains a special case. Hugely talented yet highly controversial his contribution to the Liverpool team over the past two seasons however remains unquestionable.

The question then faced is how to replace this enigma when the final curtain call comes?

Well cometh the hour cometh the man and Henrikh “Heno” Mkhitaryan may just be the right man for the job. With a significant and growing reputation Mkhitaryan appears more than capable of filling the void left by Luis without the accompanying histrionics or hijinks.

For a while now those in the know in Europe have touted the Shaktar star as one destined for the very top. A hugely creative midfielder with an eye for goal “Heno” most definitely has all the tools to be a huge star at Anfield. Capable of playing in midfield or just behind the main striker his return of 25 goals from 28 league games last season testifies to a player not shy in front of goal. Granted there is a huge disparity in class between the English Premier League and Ukrainian Premier League and Suarez is a proven goal scorer in the former. However Mkhitaryan has more strings to his bow and at 24 more time on his side to further develop his self-evident skills.

An attacking midfielder with both an eye for goal and a killer pass Mkhitaryan brings creation and innovation to the forward line. His excellent vision makes passing his main weapon with the ability to unlock a defence at will.

Technically solid and with enough pace to create that extra yard needed in the final third of the pitch Mkhitaryan will pose a threat to defences up and down the country. Combining in midfield with Coutinho should mean Sturridge and Borini will be provided with ample ammunition. Throw in the ever-green Stevie G to our attacking potential and the future with Mkhitaryan on board looks promising.

Although talent and ability must always be the main factor in determining our signings we also have a tradition within our proud club which current and future players are duty-bound to uphold. These traits such as respect, decency and tolerance have been built by the blood, sweat and tears of our past representatives. Mkhitaryan unlike Suarez will be more likely to achieve this required standard.

Multi –lingual and multi-faceted, Mkhitaryan gives the appearance of an intelligent man who both projects and commands respect. In 2010 he was named the youngest ever captain of club side Metalurg Donetsk before sealing a move to reigning league champions and local rivals Shakhtar Donetsk. An intelligent head on young shoulders for me trumps a hot head capable to bringing the club into disrepute.

As I’ve said before. Juventus replaced Zidane. Not like for like because it was impossible . Trezeguet Buffon Nedved were the replacement . If we do sign hendrik … Still need someone like negredo. Would cost 17 -20 million but, if the he scores 15-20 goals a season and hendrik (assuming we sign him) delivers 10, goodbuy Luis.
Talking about luis. Where is Real? Change of heart ? If so, what are the options. Barca won’t do it and Italian teams are..hmmm potless ! Should have kept his mouth shut if you ask me

    • Higgs Boson says:

I couldn’t agree more that he can be replaced. But why do Liverpool always make do with one real top player to complement Gerrard at any given time? Owen – Torres – Suarez – and one?.
I was thinking the same about Real Madrid having a change of heart, but they’re so despicable I think they’ll wait until the last minute so as to force Liverpool into a corner.

Good question. The answer is mistakes in the transfer market. 35 million spent on Carrol, add the 20 million on Downing. If, we had spent that on good replacements we would have 2 possibly 3 top class players.
Our club has been criminally mismanaged for a long time. It all started with Moores decisions. At the time when Man U became a PLC and an attractive option for investors, he wanted overall control…The stadium issue (which should have been built 15 years ago, Souness, Gillet and hicks etc. One of the greatest clubs on the planet doesn’t just slide down the table for no reason. It takes many cock ups to end up where we are. Criminal mismanagement.

Instead of spending £25-£27M on one class quality player( Mkhitryan), Rodgers should spend £27M on three class quality attacking players who will bring more class, creativity, excitement, goals, quality, quality competition, mobility, pace and speed to attack.

These three players should be brought to tjr club this summer instead of Mkhitrayan:

    1: AM: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao for £10-£15M
2: RW / RWF: C Tello(21) Of Barcelona in swap deal with P Reina and £2M
3: LW / LWF: Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £4-£7M
Suarez keeps harping on that he wants to go, i think me and most fans never wanted to see the guy go but after all the madness and stupidness he has done in last two seasons and the club, manager and fans have stuck by him for him to act the way he has is an utter disgrace and shows the guy has no morals or loyalties and the CLUB is bigger than any PLAYER. And as long as Real Madrid or whoever Pay £55M to £65m FOR WHAT HE IS Worth in current market then he can go.

And then If Suarez went for £55-£65M,

If Rodgers replaced Suarez with these 2 Forwards along with Capel, Munian and Tello brought in to the mix:

    1: FD: C Benteke (21) Of A Villa for £17-£22M Would bring in 15-25 goals a season

2: FD: L Muriel(23) Of Udinese for £10-£14M Would bring in 8-15 goals a season

Our club would have some class, Mobility, Pace, quality, quality competition and some much needed speed brought to squad:

With these five players brought to club the attack would be very dangerous:

AM: Competing with one another: Alberto, Coutinho and Munian
RW /RWF: Competing with one another: Sterling and Tello
LW / LWF: Competing with one another : Aspas, Capel and IBE
FD: Competing with one another: Benteke, Muriel and Sturridge

Healty class quality competition and DEPTH within the attack

  • YNWA says:

Sell Suarez for 40-50 million euros. Buy
Cam: Eriksen for €15m/Muniain for €12m.
Lw:Ola John for 10-15m/Bernard from brazil he’s young quick and suits the premier league.
Rw:We need someone here we only have sterling and ibe so maybe Tello for 8-10m.
St:If we are to sell Suarez to Madrid get 25m and Higuain or Benzema.

  • Liam says:

Can’t count the number of times I’ve sold Suarez in my FIFA 13 team. But heck, this is reality and some people really think that it’s easy to buy players esp when you’re in a club with no CL and haven’t been competing for the title for years now. I just hope BR gets it right this time. YNWA

  • kav says:

No one can replace Suarez…well maybe messi or Ronaldo. Thats it Suarez is that good !

    • Higgs Boson says:

People said the same when Torres left and also when Ronaldinho left Barca. Everyone can be replaced. I think Suarez being the type of player he is has only two/three good years left at the top anyway. He’s 27 in 6 months.

  • tommo says:

Im sure bodgers will find us another Fabio Borini to replace king Luis

  • chester says:

BD has now enter the race to sign this guy my hopes of having at Liverpool are gone….

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

These traits such as respect, decency, tolerance has been built by the “blood, sweat nd tears” of our past representatives”. you practically forgot that this trait includes hardwork, giving ur blood, sweat nd tears to the anfield faithfuls in every game. with every respect to kenny nd ian, if they had attacked fergie directly and blown this whole issue over the roof at the onset, suarez wont have been this much a victim. that is what rafa or morinho would ve done. suarez cant be replaced with just a player even though we have a way of making players great. we can do without him but he shouldnt be undermined for being honest. we had players like mascherano nd fergie couldnt sustain an attack on him cos we also had rafa.

  • Samuel Charles Evans says:

This guy is not, i repeat NOT a replacement for Suarez, and if he is then we are in huge trouble.

So far we have spent aspas – 7.6 mill,
    alberto – 6.0 mill,
    mignolet – 9.0 mill,
    toure – free,

we have let go – carragher – huge wage save
    gulucsi gk,
    wilson
carroll 15.5 (gave carroll 1 mill pay off so we got in 14.5 mill and huge wage save.
shelvey (looking like going thank god! 6 mill

if you add that up we are not even spenidng a penny at the end of that. add to this when tom ince goes we get around 2.8 mill for the sell on fee.

Now thats clever going and great with the wage bill and over all budget but we really have to go out and start signing better quality players, if we do not then we are going to find it very very tough going to even come top 6 next year???

Talk of Ilori, – why ? is he that good, not for me,
Where is the new left back to add competition for Jose??
where is the new defensive mid to help and add competition for lucus???
where is that proven winger that means then we can sell crap heap downing, ?
where is the proven center back?

and we still have players to sell to? much work to do but yet fans are getting carried away because we have spent some peanuts early n in the window, how easy it is to fall the paying consumer

  • James Fishlock says:

If Luis Suarez leaves and I think it is a big if then Rodgers will go and replace him. HM is being brought in to play in the RF or even No10 position, certainly not to replace Luis.

I will get shouted down for this but I think Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini are replacements enough in terms of goal scoring for Luis Suarez, of course they cannot do some of the things he does on and off the ball but they also will not be missing due to suspension for 8-10 games a season.

We don’t have millions of pounds to throw around and we don’t pay top wages anymore so we have to be creative, use what our excellent youth team produces and make a team capable of challenging, however, FSG are willing to back the manager if required.
the squad has needed major surgery for a while and if we do shift out the deadwood i’d expect us to sign 3 maybe 4 top players at least 2 of them being first team regulars! Hopefully a DM and a CB

    • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

going by your hypothesis how many goals due you think we wld ve if we had 2 30goals a season players notwithstanding their missing 10games a piece. 60 instead of 30 with players (sturidge nd borini) who wont miss a game???. no disrespect to them cos they are good in their class but injury prone. benteke nd jackson martinez wld give us a new dimension nd life if we sell suarez (which i hope not because brenda wld not even bid for class) as for henrick, we all know is the usual mary go round just to excite fans. he cant manage this players nd he likes having a string to hold onto when he fails. hopefully fsg would be able to find their balls nd give him the envelope or better still do it on twitter since its their way of sacking managers by mid season if we aint challenging for the title.

      • Chib says:

I have followed Liverpool for a long time and if there is one word that describes the team. That word is” cheap. ” Not ever since the healthy spending spree during the tenure of Kenny Dalglish were we saw a lot of money spent on average British players. Rodgers on other hand will not be spending a lot of money on anyone. Which is good and also very bad.

It is good because we know that we can always balance our books.

It is bad because you know Liverpool will not be competing for the like for like replacement for Luis Suarez should our Uraguayan leave for Madrid. No 30 goal a season goal scoring machine will be brought in on the cheap because these players are always never cheap. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not an exact replacement for Suarez but the Armenian managed to score 25 times last season from midfield. He outscored all of Liverpool except Suarez. But that makes him too expensive for Brendan Rodgers at 30 million. Rodgers wants that quality of player on the cheap which in Europe is a fantasy.
Benteke and others for whom scoring goals comes as easy as breathing would be too expensive for Liverpool to purchase.

We are a big club in name only. Don’t expect to see a marqee signing this summer. We are not ready for top 4 finish. Sturridge is good for a lot of goals but I don’t expect 30 in all competitions next season. We’ll have to wait and see.

    • kav says:

Borini ? har har har . And sturridge wont thrive without Suarez making space and chances for him

  • anyor says:

no road 2 real , barca, and arsenal 4 suarez.
