Sturridge success was key to Anfield signing

Moses-Liverpool-ShirtREDS new loanee signing, Victor Moses, has revealed that he hopes he can emulate teammate Daniel Sturridge’s career revival with his move to Anfield, according to the London Evening Standard.

The Reds paid Chelsea £1.5 million to bring Moses to Anfield on a season-long loan, though there does not appear to be an option to sign him on a permanent deal once his stint is over.

Moses, a £9 million signing from Wigan only last summer, has already fallen out of favour with Chelsea’s returning manager, Jose Mourinho.

Sturridge was also in this predicament whilst at Stamford Bridge and made the move to Anfield for around £12 million and is now well on his way to becoming a Kop hero having already scored an outstanding 16 goals in a mere 20 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ team.

This career resurrection was one of the primary factors in Moses’ decision to come to Liverpool, saying:

“I spoke to Sturridge and he wanted me to come here. He said I’d love it here but he didn’t need to say much.

“The next morning, I had a word with my agent and told him it could be the right move for me. It’s a massive club with great history. The club are doing well, so I wanted to come here and enjoy my football.

“Daniel is a great player and at the moment is probably the best striker in the Premier League. The most important thing as a player is to enjoy yourself. Daniel’s certainly doing that at the moment. Not playing games can really damage your career.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

Hope they both have a word in Mata’s ear .. He is another one I am sure who would become a Liverpool legend if he transferred over in the January window ..

  • Marshall says:

If we keep on the up come january we may have a go but knowing chelsea they ask what are the smoking @ anfield….

  • Denis D says:

Victor Moses will be a good loan signing for us, but as there is no option to buy him. Now that B Rodgers has strengthened the back 4 with more class, quality and depth.hopefully in January the owners will let Rodgers bring in three more class, quality players to bring in more class, quality, quality competition and cover in three more positions.

A Mobile Quick Tough Tackling Defensive Enforcer to compete and Cover Lucas Leiva: M’Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan Or B Matuidi(26) Of PSG for £12-£16M

A pacey Quick Right winger: J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia Of Mexico Or G Agbonglahor(25) Of A Villa for £6-£12M

A Left Footed Pacey Quick Winger: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle Or D Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £6-£15M

If the owners can give Rodgers £45M in January to bring in those 3 players, then if we are still in the top 4 places come January, then we will be capable of staying there until the end of the season. And back in the Champions league.

We should sign everybody and keep playing football manager game…

    • red says:

nah i’ll stick to fifa mate, also FSG won’t sanction your suggestion.

      • Denis D says:

Red, if i even played football manager then you would have point.

If i was thinking football manager or Fifa, then the Three players i would say the club should bring in would be:

1: DM: J Martinez(25) Of Bayern Munich Or S Khedira(26) Of Real Madrid for £30-£36M

        2: RW / RWF: Pedro(26) Or A Sanchez(24) Of Barcelona for £22-£27M

        3: LW /LWF: Robben(29) Of Bayern Munich for £16-£22M

Those are the players i would say B Rodgers should bring those three players in if i was playing Fifa or Championship Manager.

Those three players are all world class and would cost club millions millions millions but we would not have a chance of hell of getting any of those three players as We are not in Champions League and FSG would not sanction that Outlay.

The three players i mentioned are class quality players who would improve the squad and bring some class quality competition to the squad.

1: DM: M’Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan Or B Matuidi(26) Of PSG for £12-£16M , players in same mould as Essien, Khedira, Martinez, Mascherano and Sissoko

2: RW / RWF: J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia in Mexico Or G Agbonglahor(25) Of A Villa for £6-£12M players who create chances, score goals with pace, speed and power and to stretch opposition teams at will. Whilst Pedro Or Sanchez would cost club £22M plus, Agbonglahor Or Montero would offer same threat, pace, speed and width for £6-£12M

3: LW / LWF: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle or D Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £6-£15M Left footed players who create chances, score goals with pace and speed on left hand side. Whereas Robben is world class, Arfa and Capel are class quality players with the potential to be world class players in future if they are at right club.

        • Red says:

Denis d i was makin a valid comment with regards to your DM opptions also my second comment was direct reply to lfc sabah not yours. IMO you made decent suggestions relative to what already have or rather failed to replace

          • Denis D says:

Red, Momo Sissoko(28) Was a great class quality player when he was at Liverpool 6-7 years ago.

But now he is injury prone and we need players in the same mould as him, but younger, quicker and hungry to succeed.

So M’Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan Or B Matuidi(26) Of PSG , are both two young mobile quick tough tackling Enforcers who are in the same Mould as Capoue, Essien, Khedira, J Martinez, Makele, Mascherano and Sissoko.

One of these Defensive midfielders needs to be brought to the club in January to Compete and Cover Lucas. And then like Sakho and Llori, hopefully M’Vila(23) Or Matuidi(26) are brought to club in January for the next 4-5 years they would Compete and Cover Lucas at club.

    • slim says:

Best comment. People just come on pages and suggest players as if they’re in a virtual world. Can believe someone suggested Agbonlahor. Thumbs up for the reality check..hahahaha

      • Denis D says:

Slim, What winger at our club is better or playing better than G Agbonglahor at moment?

Everyone says Benteke is A Villas main man and he is but Agbonglahor is their creativity, pace, speed that has been unlocking teams.

A fully fit Confident Injury free G Agbonglahor is better than any winger we have at the club, he should be in the England team. But Hodgson hasn’t got a clue, Agbonglahor single handly Ripped Arsenal apart at the emirates.

And he roasted Ivanovic with ease at the bridge to set up Benteke, if you knew anything about football. You’d know he is an asset to have.

And If G Agbonglahor(26) was playing for Liverpool with better players, i am sure his technical ability would improve. Agbonglahor, Just like Bale, Lennon, Walcott are wingers that have pace, speed to burn and teams strugggle to cope against them when they are fully fit confident and firing.

Slim you say G Agbonglahor and Laugh, If G Agbonglahor played on the right wing for Us. No left full back in league, will be bombing forward at will, with the pace, speed Agbonglahor would offer our club the other way. And he is now built and strong, but he has not lost alot of his pace. And if Agbonglahor was brought to club, he would be a success, as he is a grafter and works for the team when he does not have ball. But with Coutinho on the ball, Agbonglahor’s pace, speed would stretch any side in world football.

Agbonglahor(26) Just needs to score more goals a season and improve on his skills and Touch, but if he was brought to club i am sure those things would improve dramatically.

Slim, You laugh at Agbonglahor(26) , Yet we had Assaidi, Borini, Downing last year and he is better than all the three of them put together . And all the wingers we currently have at club

    • Denis D says:

LFC Sabah, all the players mentioned would offer more class quality and depth to side.

      How is it football manager?

If i was playing football manager i would be saying we should bring in Kheidra, Robben and Pedro? World class players we would not have a chance in hell of signing whilst we are not in Champions league

I have mentioned three good class quality players who would strengthen team considerably and bring more steel and cover to centre of park and more pace, speed to attack club desperately need.

  • Tommytee says:

I’m sure with the new signings we”ll make top 4…team is doing good so far ..Sturridge isn’t 100% match fit yet ,as soon as he is and we get Suarez back team is gonna be solid,Moses won’t be needed after this season top players will want to play us when we make top 4

  • Abbey says:

We target epl trophy if Liverpool can stand on winning consistency

  • taiwo says:

    let wait and c

  • boateng says:

let’s just hope for top 4 then with consistency EPL will be possible.liverpool for life

  • Qamarudeen says:

I foresee lfc winning trophy dis season but don’t know which 1 in particular…… Gud signing’s all of dis summer transfer window success dat’s all 4 now welldone BR

  • Goody~Goody says:

Liverpool FC must Win this Season EPL Trophy! YNWA

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

dont put your hopes on Gabby A, he is a one club player (aston villa version of gerrard, not even money wld take him any where unless its for the good of the club. Man utd ve tried it a lot of times before signing young nd valencia, it didnt work, wenger also)

    • Denis D says:

CHUKWUEMEKA, Well If Rodgers tries and tests A Villa with offer. Who Knows, G Agbonglahor does have ambitions and may want to win some trophies.

So if rodgers and club went for him, i am sure and hopeful they could bring him to Anfield.
