LiverpoolAccording to Sky Sports NewsLiverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed his happiness at midfielder, Jordan Henderson, and the way he has progressed over the past year.

Henderson was told in 2012 that he had been offered to fellow Premiership club, Fulham, in the latter stages of the summer transfer as part of Rodgers’ plan to bring at-the-time Fulham player, Clint Dempsey, to Anfield.

The 23 year old, however, refused the move and has gone on to prove himself as a valuable player for the Reds, with his versatility meaning he is capable of playing in any midfield spot and, if neccesary, at wing-back.

Henderson has not missed a single minute of Liverpool’s Premiership campaign this season, and Rodgers lauded the England international, saying:

“I’ve been so impressed since I’ve been here, Jordan has become better and better.

“His level, tactically, is very good. He’s one that wants to improve all the time. If I didn’t think he could play the role and function in the roles properly I wouldn’t put him there so it’s great credit to him.

“At the end of last season, he played as a false winger from the left, coming inside and got goals. He played his first season here wide on the right. He’s played as a wing-back, wide in a midfield four.

“Wherever he plays there’s no drop-off – you still get the same. He’s one of those players that you could play him at right-back, which I’ve done sometimes, and he’s got forward well.”

The Reds’ 3-1 victory against Sunderland on Sunday marked Henderson’s 100th game at the club.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
