Liverpool FC starlet Raheem Sterling has spoken about his desire to impress manager Brendan Rodgers and earn a place back in the Reds starting line up, reports Sky Sports.
Sterling, who made 36 appearances for the Anfield club in all competitions last season has now become a bit part player for the Reds, having only made one starting appearance and 6 appearances as a substitute.
Although he has not had many opportunities, Sterling is happy to wait for his opportunity to impress:
“Every day we have training, so that helps you make an impression,” he told the club’s official website.
“To get in your favourite position on a match-day, to get a sub appearance you need to show the manager there’s something special. You’ve just got to work hard in training.”
Sterling has also stressed that the team’s performance is more important than his individual targets.
“I’ve not played as much as I’d have liked to, but the team are doing well and that’s the most important thing at this moment in time.
“Hopefully I’ll get my chance and hopefully I’ll take it,” he said.
“But as long as the team is winning, that’s the most important thing. I’m not in a rush.”
