FBL-GER-BUNDESLIGA-HAMBURG-DORTMUNDAccording to reports in the press this morning, Liverpool are making moves for Hamburg youngster, Hakan Çalhano?lu. The German-born Turkish international is currently having a stellar season for his club and has stirred interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Turk has scored 10 goals in 32 games for the club, currently sitting in 16th in the Bundesliga, and will no doubt be looking for a move to a more illustrious club with his current club struggling against relegation.

Chelsea and Liverpool have both held a long interest in the 20 year old, with Liverpool believed to have held talks with his club in December over a move in January but Liverpool appear have reignited their interest in the player and should Hamburg eventually end up relegated then they would stand little chance of holding on to the young star.

Çalhano?lu had previously spent the season prior on loan to Karlsruher, where he scored 14 goals and helped the club achieve promotion to the German 2nd division.

The fact that the one time Turkish international has shown a talent for goals from midfield would appeal to both Chelsea and Liverpoo a lot and the club would be loath to lose out on another target to bitter rivals Chelsea.

However, with Liverpool likely to be able to offer first-team football on a more regular basis, it would seem to stand the Reds in good stead, given the current depth of Chelsea’s squad and the amount of attacking midfielders they are able to call upon and may just put the club in pole position if a move is made over the summer transfer window.
