Steven-Gerrard-Liverpool-huddle_3120455Objectives achieved. This was the sentiment of Brendan Rodgers after the 11th consecutive win last week, “Now we can go on and see what we can do in the remaining games”.

If you had to offer a guaranteed 3rd to any Liverpool fan they would’ve grabbed it with both hands at the beginning of the season. Especially after where we ended last season. However, this is not the beginning of the season. From here on, expectancy is at an all-time high. The 2005 Champions league triumph doesn’t even compare.

With captain fantastic’ s legendary  “We go again” rallying call after the City game – as spontaneous as it was – it was exactly what the whole world needed to see. The togetherness of the group; what it means to Liverpool; what it means to all involved at the club. Watching it on TV or seeing it live, it was an absolutely magical moment.

Until then I’d never really  seen the season defining game yet. I wrote previously that Liverpool hadn’t really played the game where we just felt that “This is it!” feeling. While looking out for that game I realised that we may not have the “This is it!” game, but we needed a “This is it!” moment from our captain.

After watching that I genuinely felt that the title was coming home.

Reflecting on  results over the course of this season and trying to single out the important wins, I keep thinking back to the win at Fulham. I think about the last gasp goal at Everton. These games would in no doubt have  given our small team the belief they needed to go on this potentially league winning run. Liverpool have been nervous in the closing stages of the last few games, edgy and uncomfortable. But the feel towards the Chelsea game is different. Chelsea are there for the taking and the way we are destroying teams at Anfield, I think a 3-0 is likely to be on the cards.

With this possibly the title winning game, Anfield will be rocking. No Chelsea player would’ve experienced anything like it. Our players have been super charged at home this season and Sunday will be that times ten!

This is what we need, this is what Liverpool fans deserve; what the world needs and also what football needs: Liverpool as champions. The time is now!
