With the silly season (also known as the summer transfer window) seeming to have calmed down a touch with the World Cup now under-way, it’s becoming slightly easier to single out the headline grabbing guff from the genuine ‘this may have some basis in reality’ transfer gossip.
One such rumour is the news that Liverpool have taken an interest in Schalke’s 18 year old full Germany international, Max Meyer.
The diminutive young wide-man has just come off the back of a superb first full season for Schalke, scoring 11 goals, with 3 assists and making his debut for Germany. Considering the depth of attacking wide talent the Germans have, it is a huge compliment to the ability of the young player that he has been selected at such a tender age.
With Liverpool reportedly considering an £8 million bid for the player, he would not only vastly bring down the average age of an already young squad, but add some real depth of quality and raw, fearless talent to an already excellent Liverpool attacking line-up.
How do you feel about the idea of signing Meyer? Have you seen him play; is he worth all the fuss?
