I had earlier planned on writing after the game against Milan but I’m spurred to share some views after the game against City because the Reds put up such a spirited performance. Though Manchester City held possession most parts of the game and dominated play from the beginning, Liverpool were solid at the back and played a brilliant passing counter attacking game.

I got to say that I’ve belief in Rodgers and Co. to try and go all the way to win the first Premier League title. The players look absolutely fantastic and are giving everything. Gerrard had recently said that he feels extremely confident with the current system and has belief that they’ll go all the way and he mentioned that he had never felt so much confidence and energy inside the dressing room.

It’s nice to hear from the captain that the whole team believes in the manager. And the manager believes in the team. Liverpool has been active in the transfer market already signing six players and Rodgers has hinted that he has plans of bringing in few more to Anfield. Recent speculation is that Liverpool are trying to sign Lavezzi. Reus or Isco would be a better suit to play for the English side than Lavezzi. They’ll provide more dynamism to the team setup. They are the kind of players that have the potential to change the game on their own. They’ll be crucial to Liverpool’s title ambitions.

But Rodgers can be happy with the current lot. Sterling is coming off well as an important first team player. He’s really been unbelievable in the last 15 months or so. His form only seems to rise. Another young prospect in the side is Countinho. No matter what kind of new players come in, his quality is indispensable. He is such an amazing talent. Henderson is dominating the midfield, pressing and intercepting with such ease. He’s a great athlete and does a tremendous amount of work from box to box. New signing Emre Can is proving to be an important player in Liverpool’s setup. I just hope other new signings do well in the Liverpool colors.

Liverpool has been successful in the past. Time has come again for Liverpool, also now that we’re on the Champions League, to become an European heavyweight as they were before.
