With no need to do business due to a perfectly balanced squad, they just sit back and watch their rivals scramble to do last minute business, or ‘panic buying’.

Liverpool’s activity on deadline day has been inconsistent, perhaps demonstrating the success of the last decade for the club. Since 2004 the Reds have been up and down, winning trophies, such as the UEFA Champions League in 2005, but also experiencing misery and ineptitude, which encompassed the majority of the four year period between 2009 and 2013.
