After having reportedly been chasing him all summer, Liverpool and their rivals are likely to be quite disappointed with the latest news from the Bayern winger, who has been quoted in some reports today as saying he is prepared to stick it out at his club to attempt to win his place.

The Switzerland star said “I’ve still got a contract until 2016 and the club have already told me I won’t be going anywhere so I’ve just got to accept that.

“For as long as I am here, I will give everything I’ve got.”I try to do my best in training and when the coach rewards me with appearances, like today against Hannover, then that’s even better.

“I’m always delighted when I can start games, and I show that too, like I did this time.

“I think everybody could see how hungry I am to play football.”

For a 22 year old that was one of a number of stars at the World Cup this summer, it does appear odd that a player that should be a regular first team player, and who has now started just 3 games since the Bundesliga kicked off again, would be happy to hang about at a club where he is clearly at least 3rd behind Robben and Ribery.

Though, despite the player’s words, situations can change in an instant and if the winger has not started many more games once the January transfer window comes around, expect to hear and read new quotes to the contrary.

There’s only one player that has impressed me more than most in Germany. Julian Draxler ! The guy has everything. Potential to be the best in Germany and ability to play top level right now.
