Matchday Preview: Preferred Liverpool Lineup vs Real Madrid

|

Midfield

Lucas Leiva – Probably should’ve started against Newcastle after a good display the previous Tuesday but if Liverpool hope to come away from the Bernabeu with anything but a healthy defeat, the midfielder really must start.

Joe Allen – Adds a great deal of balance to the team, but only when used correctly. Could prove to work well in tandem with Lucas and will ably assist in protecting the back four.

Jordan Henderson – Henderson has been off the pace for the past few games but with Lucas allowed to screen the defence, meaning Gerrard can sit slightly further forward, the captain’s deputy will be able to influence the game in his more usual style.

Steven Gerrard – Will still be expected to contribute defensively but with the shackles off a little, and being pushed further forward in the midfield, Real may be wary of the captain’s ability to influence counter-attacks. If not, he will be in a prime position to take advantage of their lax attitude toward him.

Philippe Coutinho On the break, Coutinho will be expected to play the deadly balls forward, or be the channel through which Liverpool can unlock Ancelotti’s vastly expensive side but with possession undoubtedly limited, he will have to be on top form to take advantage of what few chances come his way.

I wish LFC victory over REAL but there level performance is too low. Though, we lose SUAREX to Barca but that is not the reason why we are back to our root.

LFC Is behind the bench. I always got angry at their game, especially, when lose or draw with a profile team.
