Brad Jones/Danny Ward
This is the one that many may disagree with as while Mignolet has been less than convincing, pushing Jones into the limelight would be admitting that there isn’t a top class ‘keeper at the club. By now though, it appears to be as clear as crystal that Liverpool are in a position which means letting Pepe Reina go was disastrous and a genuine European class goalkeeper must be a necessity in January.
But while Jones is the obvious choice, why not look into the youth setup and try something completely out of left-field, i.e. give Danny Ward a run in the first team. The fact is, the system is there for a reason, and if the players aren’t good enough to make the step up then somebody is clearly not doing their job properly. Ward is 21, has played at all levels for Wales and all that he needs now is that next step into the first team, particularly after being part of a successful U21 team over the past two seasons. All too often in recent years, promising academy players have moved on and had their careers stalled by not getting a chance in the first-team and now is as good a time as any surely?
All the best wishes
