Kramer is one of Germany’s brightest young superstars

Christoph Kramer (Borussia Mönchengladbach, on loan from Bayer Leverkusen)

Many top clubs are starting to have a look at the young German, who has impressed with his obvious strength but his passing and vision have been particularly striking. He has helped spearhead Borussia Mönchengladbach this season to third in the table and potential Champions League qualification, yet could be on his way to an elite club if he continues to progress.

His parent club Bayer Leverkusen have been strangely passive with the 23 year old, sending him out on loan for the third consecutive season, which is leaving Kramer to question his future. The price tag looks likely to be cheap for a player with such interest and potential, with a fee between £10-15m being mooted.

This may represent a tough deal for Liverpool given the likes of Real Madrid circling around Kramer, but he is exactly the type of player that FSG (Fenway Sports Group) look for, with the real ability to become one of the best in the world.

Many of the previous signings have been lower key in this strategy, such as Luis Alberto and have resulted in a large number of failures. Signing Kramer represents a serious upgrade, both in the FSG approach and the search for a defensive midfielder, for a respectable price and is a player who will only get better.
