Henderson is determined to get to the final of the FA Cup this season

Having already experienced the delights of Wembley in his first season at Liverpool, first winning the Carling Cup and then losing the FA Cup final to Chelsea, Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson is determined to see the Reds return to Wembley before the end of the season for another cup final.

Speaking to BBC’s Football Focus, Henderson said “In my first year here, we won the Carling Cup, which was brilliant. Then we got to the final of the FA Cup by beating Everton at Wembley but we lost to Chelsea, which was hard to take.

“I’ve experienced it before and it’s amazing to get to the semi-finals or the finals and experience playing at Wembley in front of the fans. It’s brilliant. I think it’s one of the best days of my career so far, winning my first trophy for Liverpool. So hopefully we can get a few more.

“It’s a massive cup competition that everybody wants to win and I think that goes for any trophy really. Any competition that you are in, you want to win every game and be at the end and win in the final.”

With Liverpool taking on AFC Wimbledon at Kingsmeadow tonight, Liverpool have been given a great opportunity to progress to the 4th round in a competition that, despite losing some of it’s luster in recent years, is still much coveted.

But Liverpool’s second in comman is all too aware of taking their opponents too lightly, he continued “I’ve seen it many times before, when the big team goes to a lower league ground and they get a draw or get beaten. So we’ve got to make sure that we go there with the right mentality and that we’re doing everything that we can to prepare for the game.

“Apart from against Leicester, where we were disappointed with the end result, I think we are picking up a bit of momentum. We’re putting in good team performances and we’re looking really good at times.

“The Swansea game, especially, has stood out so far. So hopefully we can keep going and keep building momentum.”
