Danny Ings – Starting off with a familiar one. This cropped up mid-week last week, the rumours began on social media that Liverpool were showing interest in the Burnley striker, before a number of the tabloids started reporting that the club was prepared to sign and then loan the player back to his club until the end of the season. Something which would apparently breach some Premier League rules.
Most national and online sources, including the Liverpool Echo, have been running with this story since last week but the rumours again gained pace on Sunday, as it was claimed that Liverpool had not been deterred by the club’s desire to hold onto the player, with one or two claiming that Rodgers would be willing to let Borini or Rickie Lambert move on loan in the other direction until the end of the season.
At present, it seems to be the story with the most truth to it and, given the player’s age, it wouldn’t be too hard to believe that LFC were genuinely interested in him, provided a deal could be agreed that wasn’t too high. Whether it’ll happen before the end of the window is seeming more unlikely but there’s still about 12 hours left so anything is possible.
