After missing out to Chelsea’s Oscar at last year’s World Cup, much to the chagrin of many Liverpool fans, the Reds star man of this season – Philippe Coutinho – has been called up to Brazil’s squad for the 2015 Copa America.
Having previously seemed largely ignored by previous Brazil coach, Luis Filipe Scolari, the current coach – Dunga – has given Coutinho a few chances and now appears to have chosen him ahead of the Chelsea man who has, admittedly, not had the greatest of seasons.
Coutinho, on the other hand, has had a great 6 months since December, having previously struggled along with a number of his Liverpool team mates and not only made the PFA’s team of the season, and was a contender in the race for Player of the Year.
The 22 year old has recently signed a new contract with the Reds, something which may seem a wise move should he play a starring role in the tournament, and has 8 goals and 7 assists for the seasons – his best yet in a Liverpool shirt.
