Five More Defenders Linked With Anfield Summer Switch

Simon Kjaer (Lille)

Seen as underrated by some and overrated by others, Simon Kjaer has had a journeyman career of sorts – impressing at times with Wolfsburg, Palermo and Roma.

However, since moving to Lille in 2013 the Danish international seems to have settled down and is far more consistent. He led the best defence in Europe in his first season, with only 26 goals conceded in 38 games in 2013/14 and 21 clean sheets, and has excelled again this term.

Kjaer has had very few injuries in the last few years, demonstrating his durability and is apparently preparing to leave the summer, with Lille wanting a fee over £10m.

Yet that does not seem much for a defender who has proved his quality in recent years and is once again linked with many top clubs around Europe, including Juventus and Manchester United.

However, the 26 year old Danish international has a family of Liverpool fans, and would be interested in a move to Anfield, while maybe Daniel Agger can help the Reds out by convincing Kjaer to move to Liverpool. If Dejan Lovren is to be replaced this summer Kjaer should be a prime target.
