The young Charlton star has today emerged as a target for Liverpool
The Reds have been linked with a move for Charlton’s Joe Gomez. The young English defender has just had a breakthrough season at the club, playing in over 20 games and has become one of the most wanted youngsters in the country in the process.
Charlton are reported to be looking for a fee in the realm of £7 million, with the Mail Online reporting that this could rise to £9 million with add ons.
Should the club make moves for the 18 year old, it’s highly unlikely it would be a cut and dried affair, with Arsenal and Dortmund also reported to be keen on bringing in the promising young star who is a centre back but can also play at right back.
With this in mind, it’s unclear whether Liverpool are looking at Gomez as a player for the future, or as an alternative to Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne, a player who saw a bid for him rejected a couple of weeks ago.
