Firmino could soon become the Reds’ biggest signing of the summer so far
According to reports overnight, Liverpool are seemingly on the ‘brink’ of signing Brazilian midfield star, Roberto Firmino from German Bundesliga side, Hoffenheim.
The 23 year old is currently away on international duty at the Copa America, but reports from his homeland, and specifically from Globo Esporte, are claiming that Liverpool simply need to agree a fee with his club to complete the transfer.
The only stumbling block could be that the German team want ‘no less’ than 25 million Euros. However, having missed out on a number of top targets, it’s unlikely the club will haggle too much over change.
Firmino has been a star for Hoffenheim for the past few seasons, scoring 49 goals in 153 games, with his best years coming since turning 21 a couple of years ago.
The midfield star has previously been linked with Liverpool and had, until this week, appeared more than likely to sign for Manchester United but it now seems that Liverpool are all but certain to sign the player.
The player has impressed in his brief appearances during the Copa America so far and is very much considered a rising star for Brazil. For many Reds the thought of seeing him paired with our own Philippe Coutinho just behind a striker will be a mouth watering prospect indeed.
