Liverpool’s new boy, Danny Ings, has expressed his joy at signing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Speaking to Sky Sports: “Words can’t describe the move that I’ve got for myself.

“But, at the same time, I’ve worked my way up from the bottom so it’s even more special for me.

“It’s a challenge I’m looking forward to, I’d never get complacent with anything like that.

“Now I’ve got that move, I’ll work even harder to try and get into that team and be the best professional I can be.”

Ings was one of few positives for relegated Burnley last season, as the striker went on to score 11 goals in the 35 games he took part in for Burnley. While, on the surface, this may not seem overly impressive, in context Ings contributed almost 50% of his clubs 28 goals.

The Reds will still have to foot a fee for the striker, something which is yet to be decided by a tribunal, and could be anywhere between £5-12 million, depending on how kind the members of that panel are feeling.

At just 22 years of age, Ings has his whole career ahead of him and, while not a truly ‘exciting’ signing, he will add something to the squad that neither Rickie Lambert or Mario Balotelli did last season; movement, youthful vigor and, more importantly, Premier League goals.
