In Danny Ings, LFC have signed a young striker close to the England squad

With the latest Anfield acquisition, Liverpool have already struck two deals before the transfer window has even opened. However, while most LFC fans can appreciate the sense in signing a quality, experienced player like James Milner, many are left feeling slightly underwhelmed with the latest signing of Danny Ings.

The Burnley striker had a solid season with the – now – relegated side, scoring 11 goals in his debut season, and the 22 year old has agreed terms to sign for the Reds once the transfer window opens.

But many can see the sense in the Ings deal; a young player, with a season in the Premier League under his belt, who is suited to the Reds’ style and is likely to be happy to a squad player for a couple of seasons. None more so than Liverpool legend, John Aldridge, who believes that Ings will only get better.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Aldo said: “Danny Ings is, for me, a no-brainer.

“The young lad scored 11 goals for Burnley, a team struggling for points, struggling for goals – and he’s on the verge of breaking through to the England side.

“He’s [young] and is one who has great potential. He’s a goalscorer, he knows where the net is, his movement’s good and he’s quick.

“He can finish, he’s quite clinical in front of goal, so he’s a player that will only get better.”

  • Erin says:

Ex championship player, scores a few first season signed up by liverpool . Have we done that before? Yep! At least not for 35 million to be laughed at.

No impact . A sign of where brendan is taking us

  • Let’s see how he turns out. Some players have flourished here for the first time in their career. Sturridge, Coutinho, etcetera.
