Tevez has been linked to Liverpool and looks like he may have moved a step closer

After weeks of speculation, it appears that Liverpool may be close to pushing through two transfers that would complement the free transfer (due to take place on July 1st) of James Milner.

First, Football Italia are claiming that Croatian publication, Vecernij List, Mateo Kovacic has agreed terms on a transfer to Liverpool from Inter Milan. The midfielder has starred for Inter this season and the Reds are keen to bring the talented international in, having reportedly matched Inter’s 24 million Euro valuation.

As yet, there’s been no official confirmation from either club, or the player’s representatives, but this one seems like it might actually have legs.

The second major rumour today is that Carlos Tevez is close to a move to Anfield. The striker narrowly missed out on a Champions League medal against Barcelona last night and, with Juve having just snapped up Paulo Dybala, it seems that Tevez may have already played his last game for the Turin side.

The Metro (we know, we know.. ) are reporting news from Tuttomercatoweb, that Tevez has told the club he wants a new challenge and Liverpool seem to be at the front of the queue to bring the Argentine in.

Goals were a major problem for the Reds last season, scoring around 50 less than the previous season, and Tevez is an almost guaranteed 20 goals a season, having scored 50 goals over 2 seasons for Juventus, averaging a goal every 2 games over his career. At 31, Liverpool would be getting a striker that is still fairly close to his peak and has a couple more years left in him at the top level.
