The England striker could be available for Liverpool on Sunday for Norwich

It’s been a long time coming but Liverpool’s star man, Daniel Sturridge, could make his long awaited return to action against Norwich City on Sunday.

The 26 year old has not featured in game for Liverpool since April of last season but now looks like he may ready to at least take his place up on the bench for the Reds.

After Luis Suarez’s departure, many believed that Liverpool would cope, given that Sturridge was matching the Barcelona man goal for goal, almost but a series of injuries last season made sure he didn’t get many games.

But today Brendan Rodges confirmed that Sturridge could make his much hoped for return to action at the weekend. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, via Liverpoolfc.com, Rodgers said: “Daniel has been training with the team for over a week or so, so again we’ll assess him to see where he’s at in relation to the game.

“.. Daniel has been out for a long time, so a player who can get you 25-plus goals in a season is someone who is going to be missed for sure.”

Sturridge holds the record for the Liverpool player to score the most goals in his first 50 games for the club, post war, and is one of only two or three 25+ goal a season strikers in the Premier League.

If the club can get him fit and firing then the season could really turn around quickly. Before that point though, he needs to be wrapped in cotton wool prior to games and given every opportunity to attain match fitness.

How do you think Sturridge should be handled – should he start at the weekend, if available? Let us know your thoughts below.

yes him and beneke should be upfront and we should use d diamond formation and moreno should play instead of gomez

  • LRankin2 says:

Heck no! Gomez plays, not Moreno.
Sturridge should come on as a substitute and should be paired with Benteke.

Knowing BR, there is every possibility that lucas & milner will form the midfield base & to be honest, that is bad news ’cause it would mean zero creativity from midfield. One of them shuld be paired with Emre(I’m tempted to say Emrys) as it wouldn’t be very wise to start Hendo so quickly after an injury. On the case of Moreno & Gomez,I think I’d go with Moreno since he offers more attacking threat & if we impose ourselves on the game early enough,Norwich won’t be very effective going foward.
