Coutinho believes it will take lots of hard work to match Klopp’s expectation of his players

It took until Jurgen Klopp’s seventh game in charge at Liverpool to suffer defeat. Even then, it was clear that many of the elements of Klopp’s grand plan for this Liverpool team were starting to take shape, with Liverpool having over three times as many shots and dominating possession against Crystal Palace.

But not even Jurgen Klopp can work miracles overnight (or in a few, short weeks), and so it was the Reds’ well-known struggles up front and occasional lapses at the back that undid them, showing that there is still plenty of work to do.

And Liverpool star, Philippe Coutinho, believes that there is still plenty of work to do until the team reaches the levels Klopp expects of them, despite the clear improvements.

Speaking to the official Liverpool magazine, Coutinho said: “When you get new players, especially strikers, it is the job of all of the team to give them the service they need.

“I have to learn whether it is right to play a fast ball or a pass along the ground, depending on who I am playing the ball to.

“I have to adapt to them, but it’s not only me who must do this.

“The training sessions are very, very important for this adaptation process to happen.

“We work on this every day in training and the sessions are very intense.

“If we’re not doing it right, or something isn’t working, we do it again and again until we get it right.

“The more you train with your team-mates, the more you learn about each other and this is important for the team to do well.”

All of that work will continue unabated following the current international break, with no further internationals until March 2016, giving Coutinho and his team mates plenty of time to work through the more intense aspects of what Klopp wants.
