The 23 year old has steadily returned to some sort of form under Klopp

Philippe Coutinho – Coutinho’s performances over the past 12 months have been – mostly – at such a high level, that when he dropped off slightly in recent months it became a huge concern. Particularly with reports of Barcelona lurking in the shadows.

But the Brazilian star has slowly improved since Jurgen arrived, with goals, assists and performances all gradually coming back to him.

Initially, in the first handful of games, Coutinho appeared to be struggling the increased physical demands under the new manager. Many had already raised the issue that, after being given freedom to orchestrate under Rodgers, Coutinho may struggle to combine Klopp’s heavy pressing game with his own creative game.

Thankfully, the last few games have shown this was just a short transition for Coutinho who is steadily heading back toward his best, with three goals in the last two games he’s started. Not to mention two further goals in a behind closed doors friendly with Wolves last week.

And let’s be honest, even when he’s far from his best, he’s still usually a level above most other players.
