GK/Defence

Simon Mignolet – The Liverpool goalie had very little to do throughout the game today, despite Swansea having the odd rally, particularly after Liverpool scored the only goal of the game. The yellow card for time-wasting (again) is the only mark against him today. Rating – 6

Nathaniel Clyne – Was found getting forward in support much more today than in recent games and he looked quite handy when he did. A little more end-product is all that’s asked for.  Rating – 7

Martin Skrtel – For all the criticism certain sections of Liverpool’s fan-base like to level at Skrtel there isn’t a better header of the ball in the side, nor does any of the other defenders in the squad pull the Reds back line together quite like Skrtel. Was very commanding today, something reflected in the fact that Swansea did not manage a single shot on target. Rating – 7

Dejan Lovren – Continues to look more and more comfortable and assured, even managed to buy himself more time on one or two occasions with some nice footwork. Klopp may well have saved his Liverpool career. Rating – 6.5

Alberto Moreno – Not the only player to start looking tired early in the second half today, Moreno looked quite leggy and wasn’t as quick getting forward. Made some great tackles in the first half, showing that his defensive game has improved greatly. Rating – 6.5
