Klopp can again be pleased with most of what he saw from his team

The scoreline once against flattered Liverpool’s opponents tonight but the performance will have left Jurgen Klopp feeling much the same way we, as fans, felt: content, but knowing that there were still many improvements to be made.

In truth, the score could have been 3, 4, even 5 nil but Liverpool just never managed to truly ‘click’ in front of goal. Much was made of the effective work Christian Benteke did after coming on on Saturday and he was doing all the same things tonight but his team mates often conspired to go the selfish route and shoot themselves, or the service just wasn’t up to scratch.

Klopp made a minimal amount of changes, ensuring that the continuity was there, without playing three of his key players until late in the second half, with Lucas Leiva, Martin Skrtel and Philippe Coutinho all sitting most of the game out.

Even Adam Lallana was given a break, whilst James Milner again captained the side, to questionable effect.

A win is a win, however, and there can be few complaints with three points away in Russia.
