Midfield
Lucas Leiva – The veteran Red went about his business quietly, but with calmness and assurance. His penalty showed no nerves and his celebration showed just what it means to him to play for Liverpool and reach a final. Rating – 6.5
Jordan Henderson – It is usually a long way to the top after a big injury and Henderson is showing that. One or two moments of class were set apart in a peformance of worrying inconsistency and mistakes. So bad, Klopp had to sub him early in the second half. Rating – 4
Emre Can – Can can probably thank Henderson’s poor peformance for not being given the hook himself. He was lax in his passing and his decision making in and around the box was very poor. Shall we also talk about that penalty? And from a German, no less. No, let’s just move on. Rating – 5.5
In all fairness, Flanagan should have been sent of for kicking an opponent’s knee when already on a booking. Clearly lacking sharpness after such a long time out.
As for Moreno, well, we have other areas to work on in the transfer market, but I wouldn’t be surprised, if he was replaced in the summer. He seemingly can’t defend to safe his life. Or he might be turned into a winger.
How Emre Can, who seems to be pretty much of form lately gets picked over Allen every week now is quite puzzling.
And we should do everything we can, and those in the stadium yesterday did that, to make sure that Benteke’s confidence goes up again. He certainly has a lot to offer.
