The 24 year old has been a rare bright spot in January for Reds fans

It’s been quite a turnaround in the past month for Liverpool’s new £30 million man, after having initially underwhelmed since joining the club and he’s no gone and claimed his first Standard Chartered Player of the Month award, ensuring that Philippe Coutinho’s grasp is well and truly broken, after Dejan Lovren won last month’s award.

Firmino takes over from his Brazilian counterpart after an impressive month against the backdrop of overall disappointment for LFC.

The 24 year old was highly impressive – for the most part – throughout January, scoring a couple against Arsenal (including one stunning strike) before running the show against Norwich, grabbing another couple of goals and laying one on.

That now takes Firmino to 5 goals and 5 assists in all competitions for the season, as the former Hoffenheim man has gradually found his feet and begun to show what he is capable of.

According to Liverpoolfc.com, Roberto took an impressive 62% of the vote, ahead of another of January’s unlikely heroes, Joe Allen, with Adam Lallana and Lucas Leiva rounding out the vote.

Do you agree with the voting, or would you have gone for our – mostly – unsung hero, Joe Allen? Let us know your thoughts below.
